I can't believe the day I decide to go to bed earlier than usual they drop those KH4 screenshots like 5 minutes after the fact, but these were excellent news to wake up to at least 🥹

All this to say I'm feeling pretty mixed about these news. I just hope whoever was involved in the project will be okay, and I hope that KH4 won't be too negatively impacted by this.

It'd be great if they repurposed the scrapped story into a proper game, but I think that's just naively optimistic.

Personally speaking, despite having been a Kingdom Hearts fan since I was a wee lad, I didn't see myself playing (let alone spending money on) Missing Link. I would've just watched the cutscenes for the story updates on Youtube, like I did for Union Cross. I think most fans would've done the same.

This game was competing against not only Hoyo's behemoths, but also against Hoyo's own competitors such as Nikki, WuWa, or NtE. Then there's LaDS, P5X which is going global soon, and all other profitable gachas that preceded them.

Ntm Square doesn't have a good track record with their mobile games.

I do lament the loss of the story content, though, and I can't imagine a situation where this won't negatively impact KH4, so all in all these aren't good news.

But, to be honest, seeing the quality and array of products in the gacha market currently, I don't think ML would've lasted long anyway.

I really feel for the developers that spent so much time and effort into Missing Link, only for it to be cancelled. I don't imagine they've had it easy, and I hope they can recover from this.

On the other hand, one less virtual casino on the sphere is not exactly a loss that I'm gonna be sad over.

I understand that visibility isn't always the problem, of course. If my art sucks then, well, it's to be expected. Really apalled that this was a massive failure, though. Makes it harder to find the motivation to pick up the pen any time soon.

I don't know how to reach a wider audience on this app.

I know there's no algorithm, but people rarely check tags, and that's the only way I have of promoting my stuff on here. I already crosspost, too, but people there don't use this app anyway. I have no idea about what to do.

Wish I had someone close to talk to here, or anywhere, really. I've been really going through it these past 3 days and I only find myself getting more and more distressed as time goes on. I hope I can pull through, even if it's screwing me up so bad.

Still, I should start posting art of my other interests every now and again soon, because if I don't start branching out now that I barely have a presence, then it would just bite me in the ass later if I ever got to grow. Things wouldn't change much now if it happened, so it wouldn't hurt as much..

There's also the fact that I've been so displeased with both Hoyoverse and the Genshin playerbase after recent events, I guess... But man, hyperfixations suck because despite everything I want to keep drawing for it. Mixed feelings about it.

Man, I should've posted some Kingdom Hearts art today instead since it's the 23rd anniversary, but tbh I forgot it was today and only remembered yesterday when the official acc made the paopu post. All things considered, it seems Square forgot about it too, so maybe it doesn't matter after all, lol.
