To me, the lyricism falls flat which is hard to swallow considering that’s been a focal point of her music for years now. It doesn’t have to be gut wrenching heartbreak music to be good, and this was just fine.

I just think there’s a way to make a fun, upbeat album about being in love and feeling happy and make it interesting, and tell an actual story. And we know she can do that, IE Cornelia street, enchanted, I think he knows, paper rings, starlight, like cmon now!!!

So I listened to Showgirl today and I am… unenthusiastic.

I’m all for a good pop album, it’s one of my favorite genres of music, but this one just feels very run of the mill. There’s nothing wrong with a normal pop album, but we’ve seen her do better.
