Looks like an interesting study. The authors may be interested in our research on morphological accuracy with deaf and hearing bimodal bilinguals. We found lowest accuracy for the DHH participants on plural -s. academic.oup.com/jdsde/articl... academic.oup.com/jdsde/articl...
What, and work oneself out of a job?
Language shapes everything, from how we think to how we connect and innovate.
Linguists are essential to understanding communication, and to creating ethical, responsible AI. We need more linguists.

Congratulations!!
Oh, thanks, Emily! Love having you as my colleague
Very honored to have been elected as a AAAS Fellow. My thanks to Section Z Linguistics for all the good work you do.
Like several others, I took an undergrad intro Ling course to fulfill a gen ed requirement and fell for it. I was taking ASL courses and went for Deaf Ed to satisfy that side of my interest. It took several years before I understood how to combine my interests.
Thank you for sharing this important information
Hoping for tranquility soon
The Linguistic Society of America (LSA) recently launched a new Resource Hub, offering “easy access to essential materials, professional development tools, teaching resources, and more”. It’s a large database of recordings and documents related to linguistics careers, scholarship, and teaching.
What an important message!
My friend Tina Smith is right, we need to stop what is happening in Minnesota now, not just because of the danger it’s creating, but if we don’t Trump’s slide toward authoritarianism will continue.
February 11: Diane Lillo-Martin (@dclm.bsky.social) (University of Connecticut/Yale University) will present on The Truth about Sign Language Acquisition, in collaboration with ASL and Deaf Studies in Penn’s Department of Linguistics. For more information: wolfhumanities.upenn.edu/events/lillo...
I’d have been very interested, but unfortunately it’s not possible for me at that time. Hope it goes well!

My quote of the day
Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.

Drawing of a horse. Back portion is realistic but front is a stick figure
Shall I include that horse that is partially a stick figure?
What a nice suggestion. I won’t manage it every page but you have inspired me to add a conceptual figure
The targeting of immersion schools points changing racial logic. Under neoliberal multiculturalism the teaching of racialized languages was permissible if done in ways that benefited white people. Under neofascism the very idea of racialized languages being taught in school is being criminalized.
