I’m really happy with what we came up with, but it's time for the real test: whether the rest of the EEG research community will, too :)

Over the past five years, we invested a lot of thought and time into developing ARTEM-IS, a tool that would help EEG (starting with ERP) researchers document their EEG (ERP) methods.

In theory, a scientific paper should tell you how to repeat the study, but in practice that’s often hard, especially when methods get complicated. Writing guidelines and checklists have helped, but the problem is surprisingly stubborn (e.g. in EEG: link.springer.com/article/10.1...)

ARTEM-IS is a grass-roots initiative, and we are open to your feedback and participation, so please do not hesitate to reach out!
Currently, we have ARTEM-IS for ERP, which supports documenting simple ERP experiments. Explore it at: artemis.incf.org
When shared, ARTEM-IS standardised reports also allow easier metadata extraction, helping metascience in addition to improving reproducibility of individual studies and aiding future research.
As a result, you get a detailed, standardised report in both human-readable PDF and machine-readable JSON file. You can use it as a supplement to your publication, or as a memory aid when writing a paper.
If you are not familiar with ARTEM-IS, it is an open science project whose goal is to boost transparency in EEG research literature. We provide a user-friendly web form that helps document every important step in an EEG study, which you can fill in at any stage of the study.
