Medieval manuscript illustration showing a whimsical rabbit seated upright, playing a long, golden trumpet. The rabbit is perched atop a decorative border adorned with colorful leaves and intricate geometric patterns in blue, pink, and gold. The background is a light parchment color, typical of illuminated manuscripts

My photo shows a fish-shaped glass vessel in profile with head facing left. It is in a museum display case with a deep blue background. The fish is made of opaque turquoise blue glass decorated with yellow and white glass festoons representing fish scales. The mouth is outlined in yellow glass and the eye is made of a yellow glass circle. Other details include a tail, and a dorsal fin. Length 11cm. This early type of polychrome glass is known as core-formed glass. It was formed by wrapping molten glass around a sandy core. Coloured glass rods were then wrapped around the surface of the vessel while it was still hot, and dragged with a pointed tool across the surface to produce festoon patterns. Early polychrome glass was a luxury product owned by members of the elite or royalty.

This luxury glass bottle was likely used to store precious oils and perfumes some 3,400 years ago.

The political effects of X’s feed algorithm
Switching from a chronological to an algorithmic feed increased engagement and shifted political opinion towards more conservative positions.
Surprised?

Amazon's U.S. tax bill dropped by 87% in 2025, mostly thanks to Trump's tax cuts.
Meanwhile, its profits jumped by 45% to nearly $90 billion — and it announced 30,000 job cuts.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.
