I used a bike rack this weekend that exists because I complained about it not existing.

You can make things better, even just a little.

Follow the money!!!

Every choice he makes reminds me that he is not fiscally conservative. Our tax dollars have been squandered yet again… meanwhile, so many nonverbal students with Autism don’t have the support they need to be safe at school. We don’t have enough money to buy physical textbooks. Make it make sense.

We were all outraged about Doug Ford's private jet. So much so that he's done a rare reversal and promised to sell the Gravy Plane "as quickly as possible".

Here's something else to be mad about: It looks like they GROSSLY overpaid for the jet in the first place.

I’m glad our collective outrage has shamed Doug Ford into selling his plane.

Can we shame him into properly funding public healthcare and public education (and ensuring excellent IAQ in both) next?

Call him and tell him so: 416-325-1941

While I recognize that misogyny in healthcare is a VERY real thing, I also recognize that not all people who live with endometriosis are women. Gender-diverse people also face many barriers to diagnosis and treatment, and deserve to part of any conversation or posts about endo.

A lot of people with #endometriosis are told that we have a “high pain tolerance” or “must not really feel pain”.

No.

We feel pain like everyone else.

We were just told that our pain was all in our heads from an early age and to suck it up.

We learned to mask our pain.

What Ontarians need to know about ‘student achievement’ reforms that will run school boards like businesses All students and families will be impacted by cuts and provincial reforms being imposed on Ontario schools, and those who are already disadvantaged will bear the brunt.

“Once we view education through the lens of a balance sheet, we have already decided that some students are too expensive to serve.”

Good idea. For the record, there have been times this year when there was NOT copy paper available for my Grade 3 classroom.

Banning algorithmic pricing ought to be a no-brainer call for any government: people don’t like to be ripped off, surveilled, or treated differently from their peers.

Algorithm pricing does all three of those things.

“Well, Momma… now school is basically just reading things and answering questions. I write the test and then I forget everything after. But in Kindergarten we actually LEARNED things that I still remember.” -12yo, on the magic of early learning.

It’s been a week.

Indoor recesses.

Snack bins running on empty as more families struggle to send in enough food for their children to eat at school.

Gastrointestinal and respiratory illnesses taking down kids and staff.

Teachers laid off.

But then also this from the littles.

It is wrong. This government relies so heavily on the good hearts, time, and generosity of (mostly women) educators in elementary schools who hate to see children going without the things they need to learn (including food, clothing, learning resources, etc).

We will have empty classrooms except for chairs, desks, and whatever we can get for $750 in overpriced Staples consumables such as markers, pencils, glue, scissors, paper, and notebooks.

Then I want to invite all parents to come and see what the government ACTUALLY provides.

3 days ago 24 1 1 0

When the government says only “Ministry approved resources” may be used in schools, I’d love to see every single elementary teacher take home every book, slide deck, puppet, play doh set, Lego set, play money, counters, laminated sheets, posters, etc. that they have personally purchased or created.

3 days ago 24 4 1 0

Just to be clear: we do not have money for textbooks in public elementary schools.

We make or buy our own books and resources, go to the library, and find videos and websites to use.

Some boards used to have consultants or resource teachers who made resources.

But they’ve been fired. #OntEd

In front of him is a plate with a slice of cheesecake and a Tim Hortons coffee cup. He's grinning like an inane ghoul with a bottomless pit of corruption where his soul should be.

He is a man who represents business interests and understands how to get power. Yes, I recognize that he’s “better than Pollievre” but he is really showing us his true colours now.
