As in labeling them “safe consumption sites”?
If so, yes. That was my bad - I did not mean to indicate that language meant “safe” - and was moreso using the standard name/ language used for them (but not because I thought they were “safe”, per se)

Will I die on the hill of calling bars safe(r) consumption sites to normalize it? Yes. Are there differences? Yes.

We can’t accept govt “violent” framings to justify dehumanization/criminalization of people as disposable and “ok” targets for systemic violence under imperialist, racial capitalism.

Zero percent of me is saying bars are “safe”, tho 🫠

Either way -Tim targeting Indigenous communities cause “public safety” while citing weed “human trafficking,” increase while funding extortive for-profit care models (the same models that increase risks of GBV & forced labor trafficking) is BS. This isn’t about safety. It’s about resource extraction

Isnt it fair to say all “safe consumption sites are “safer”, not “safe? Hence it being called harm reduction?

Maybe Im missing your point? But my intention here is to highlight the violence and discrimination justified as “publlliiiic safety,” when it’s got shit all to do with public safety.

My question this morning: What makes the Premier think attending an Oil and Gas conference in Texas is more important than being in the House to defend his awful budget? #nspoli @nsgov.bsky.social

And they aren’t isolated cuts. Other social program/education/ tourism/meat inspecting/DNR cuts. The tax changes for forested land. Job losses at universities and NSCC. The hit on rural Nova Scotia’s economy and well-being will be long lasting.

These bills & cuts are to create job dependency in resource extraction while hoping to gut rural community capacity to respond. This shits interconnected, strategic and actively seeking to deepen colonial violence. Look at Bill C‑200 for an example. He's legit looking to make his own version of ICE.

Fun fact: bridge toll removal and 1% HST reduction cost us appx $300 million.

All of the devastating cuts in the current budget?

$300 million.

Is your 1% HST cut worth the loss of tourism, arts & culture, educational quality and wildlife conservation in NS?

Is it standard journalist practice to only interview police and apologists for a story like this? (Notice Cormier’s “we” identification)

Police always demand more gear, more money, more training but their violence is ceaseless. What prevents their murderous tyranny is reduced contact with people.

There's a ton of research which clearly shows that big drug busts:

- cause more violence

- cause more overdose deaths

- have no positive benefits

(I'm not saying cartel leaders are all great people, I'm saying the best and only way to put them out of business is to end the drug war.)
