Jeff Webb, father of cheerleading, 1949-2026 His vision of high-octane competition turned the sport into a multibillion-dollar business

Yikes:
"[cheerleading]...accounts for around two-thirds of all severe head and spinal injuries suffered by female athletes in the US, according to academic research published in 2022"

Geese obviously. And then this totally brilliant earworm-filled EP: open.spotify.com/track/1sR9PN...

Genuinely kind of disturbing how little attention has been paid to Israeli officials explicitly promising to do unto southern Lebanon what they did to Gaza

This is super interesting — and helps also answer my question about why ICBM missile control bunkers were always this sea foam green:

There is a false belief that Lebanon has endured this before, so this time around things are somehow manageable. But they are clearly far worse than they were in 2024 or even before that. Read this thread for a view inside the scale of suffering in the centre of Beirut.

Since March 2, the World Health Organization said on Saturday, 27 attacks on healthcare sites in Lebanon have resulted in 30 deaths and 35 injuries. Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported additional attacks on Monday, raising the toll to 38 dead and 69 wounded, along with dozens of ambulances and vehicles destroyed and 13 health centers bombed.

Heartbreaking that, yet again, thousands of innocent people across Lebanon are being subjected to indiscriminate violence and mass destruction of their homes

A five by five bingo card, here are the things to look out for:
Top row: 80's bed linen, obscure musical instrument, bed too small for over 6ft person, CRT TV/Monitor, tumble dryer
Second row: exercise bike (as clothes horse), DALEK, 90s or earlier games console, too much crafting stuff, single beds for long term partners
Middle row: old cuddly toy, bed on tiles/lino, DUVET, multiple labubus, bare plaster board
Fourth row: bed next to fridge, 4+ Jilly Cooper novels, definitely dead house plant, caravan, large collection of jigsaws
Bottom row: giant buzz ball, "curtains" that are not curtains, scary dolls, bed under table, power tools.

Right then, no one asked for it (everyone seems quite happy with last year's!) but here we are anyway, your #DuvetKnowItsChristmas 2025 bingo card! Some returning classics, some we missed last year and some new ones. Enjoy team, donation link below once Rhodri posts it!

Essential listening, especially if you have been waiting for decades for someone to say this to Parris, starts from 23 minutes in.
