Follow-up on birthright citizenship in Canada.

Didn’t know Jason Kenney mooted getting rid of full jus soli during his time as immigration minister.

More open to the idea with his input. Citizenship on all new birth certificates is a way to deal with the logistical issues that would arise.

I guess this column was written before Rogan went to the White House and fully rejoined the MAGA flock?

I’m reminded of someone in politics I know who comforted me on January 7th 2021 that “nobody is with Trump now”, who’s now moved to Florida, is full MAGA 2.0, and posts about Canadian annexation.

My general view is I’m fine with spending public money to obliterate anything he has put up during his second term, a decade from now.

That’s the optimistic read of the season (if the lottery goes our way).

The pessimistic read gets very dark, very quickly.

All sorts of posts about this app being down; hasn’t happened yet for me.

We’ll see.

“What can they do to make the team less popular?

“The next thing they’re gonna do is name Trump a team ambassador.”

Man, the commentators are DARK.

Far less likely to be successfully sued for defamation now than a century and a half ago.

Mildly disagree with Mill, in that I say we do have a right to parade our avoidance of someone’s society.

Might not necessarily be wise, but we don’t have a duty to be wise.

Second-term president, so yeah, to foreign eyes, he IS America.

See I could have supported a law banning disruption of speeches intended to prevent speech, but banning walkouts is banning speech acts themselves and gets the law struck down.

(Though I guess a problem is people going to ticketed events just to walk out, but I mean manage that issue yourselves.)

Yeah it’s the final insult from this season’s team.

Agree with everyone dunking on that comment, but we absolutely should colonize the moon.

And sure, name things on it after the people who get there and discover things, or whatever passing whims they have as they do so.

If I were a member of the McLaughlin family, I would be very upset at the fate of the planetarium that Colonel McLaughlin paid for and endowed.

Okay the mid-morning subway is getting pretty bad now.

Multiple crazies on most trains.

(Went to the dentist for my semi-annual cleaning, it’s a straight shot down the Yonge line.)

Oh, and I’m just getting off in time, as trains northbound are being held at Lawrence for an emergency alarm.

Re the Trudeau-Perry Coachella pics — fine, happy he’s happy, glad he isn’t PM anymore.

Just don’t scold us over American travel or single-use plastics anymore, OK?

So I think the hopes for an American antipope remain live.

So I keep a Truth Social account to verify this stuff and make my own screenshots, because I simply wouldn’t believe them coming from others.

Suspect it’s Russian intelligence, from this story.

(Suspect the writer suspects that, but is sensibly unwilling to say it directly.)

Actually, thinking a bit more about this, freedom actually could be considered a public good, in the classic sense.

Non-rivalrous and non-excludable.

Or at least that’s what we THOUGHT. Maybe it is rivalrous (depletable), given what we have seen in the last decade.

H’m. Must think more on this.
