Yes, but only once! She fell off a bed and when I instinctively lunged to grab her, I scared her enough to trigger the impression. It was startling

Here she is after cracking the egg
Not sure, but she sleeps for many days after eating. Almost as if she’s recovering and digesting
Nope, she uses her hypapophyses (ventral spines)
Shh that part is a secret 🤫
Her head is about the size of a pinky fingernail but she’s 61 cm (24 inches)
My egg eating snake in the process of consuming a quail egg. She will use the spines on her neck vertebrae to crack open the egg and then spit out the eggshell
They look so comfy
I think if I could grow a glowing lantern on my head and rarely have to interact with another soul in the murky black abyss then I, too, would finally have it all.
I want a "conference" where every academic cooks a dish for everyone and we all talk about our work casually while cooking. People can sous chef for each other. We eat and talk about our work in progress. You submit an abstract and a recipe.
Thank you!
I can now introduce myself as Dr. Barton!!!!

A temporary road sign saying "Warning: Aggressive Birds Ahead. Hawk activity reported. Proceed with caution."
Well, the birds around Harvard campus have had it with people...
Can some museum just do a blacklight survey party in their collections after hours and report everything that glows? Every 6 months there’s another one of these and I’m starting to think maybe it’s not that special/there are some interesting patterns we could pick up with broad sampling.

Have you heard of the brutal chimpanzee and "hippie" bonobo dichotomy? ☠️🕊️
Today, we report similar aggression magnitudes in 22 captive chimpanzees and bonobos groups - be it all aggression or restricted to contact.
A good day in the lab for me is if the dog I’m MRI scanning has a normal, healthy brain. Good for both me as a researcher as well as the dog!

New paper! How weird could Permian animals get? Turns out, pretty weird. Meet the stem tetrapod Tanyka amnicola from the Pedra de Fogo Formation of northeast Brazil

Just realized I put the wrong link in the main post (although that paper is really cool too). Here is the right one: kwnsfk27.r.eu-west-1.awstrack.me/L0/https:%2F...
I like to think the same is true for memorizing hundreds of dog breeds 😅
Rory Gilmore (left) and Waffles were quite the handful (in a good way)
Orla is a very sweet older Golden
I’m obsessed with Jillie’s smile
Arvyn certainly knows how to strike a pose
A golden retriever sits a couple of feet away from a backdrop that says “Canine Brains Project.” The dog’s tongue is hanging out her mouth.
