I also think it's important to show someone struggling with not feeling butch enough (or anything enough) to claim a label for people like me who feel like they're just kind of being a little guy and don't fit squarely in a "type" and that it precludes them from being desirable

Jen's struggles with ADHD mirror my own--the "why can't I just do this," the shoulding, the shame and frustration around all of that--and I want anyone who reads it to know that it's okay to accommodate their brain and there's nothing wrong with needing a different path

It was a few things but one of the biggest inspirations was the lack of butch/butch sapphic pairings in trad contemporary romance!
