Absolutely butchering my manuscript in order to appease my reviewers.

It's like playing jenga, but in addition to removing vital structural integrity, you add completely random shit like a cactus here, a dildo there, some hippo turd on the side, and sprinkle it all with dead bees.

ta-da, science.

The new release of #BigVolumeBrowser (0.1.0) finally adds animation render functionality to it, plus some other navigation improvements and bug fixes.
Here is a movie I've made for the microtubule network (via ExM) in different cell types. Contact me if you want it for educational/research purposes.

Nice! How did you do this rendering ?

It’s a z projector (or 'collector') with a varying z reference. There are methods to get the reference, and methods to extract a substack around the reference. It works very well for curvy surfaces.

Converted my old elastix + transformix Java wrapper to use the appose.org approach with Opus. Total cost? $12. Worth it.

Surprisingly Opus is worse than Sonnet:

I retried this given the claimed new capabilities of Claude for (interactive) sketches. Better, but we're not there yet (look at the v0 tangent:

Appose processing hackathon with @jytinevez.bsky.social, @ctrue.bsky.social, @gaellel.bsky.social, @strigaud.bsky.social, Carlos and Thomas . Simple POC with Java calling python through Appose to flip blocks. Promising!

YouTube's real genius: get companies to pay for ads so annoying that users end up paying Google directly to remove them. Brands fund their own irrelevance.

Nice! But why the black edges ?

Nice! Sorry no time to look in detail, but how does mcp work with images ? Is there an included vision model that takes rgb screenshots, or is it just text based ?

Smashing console logs (which are not errors) -> very dumb bottleneck 😅.

10 hours -> 10 seconds for initialisation. Looks promising.

Claude code flexing:

For your case with uniform TIFFs on network storage, lazy validation would transform a multi-hour init into seconds. The validation cost is amortized across actual reads.
----
Let's see if that's true!

Is there a way to sync claude code with git: if I switch branch or checkout an older commit then the discussions revert to their states at these previous points / branch ?

Are there any rankings of LLM capabilities by language? My intuition is: more verbose and grammatically strict languages would perform better.

4Pi-SIMFLUX: 4Pi single-molecule localization microscopy with structured illumination - Nature Methods 4Pi-SIMFLUX is a single-molecule localization microscopy approach that achieves a near-isotropic resolution below 10 nm in whole mammalian cells.

We are happy to share our latest work, 4Pi-SIMFLUX, which combines structured illumination with interferometric detection to achieve near-isotropic 3D localization precision of 2–3 nm and resolve sub-10 nm structural features across whole mammalian cells.
