The background image is ‘SPELLING’ written using cubes on an orange background. This is overlaid with the ‘Educational Review’ journal title at the top. In the middle is the article title and author name(s): ‘“It’s just about printing the list, getting children to copy them”: some teachers’ experiences of the Key Stage 2 national curriculum for spelling in English primary schools’ by Kathryn Cawley, Sarah Critten, Helen L. Breadmore & Julia M. Carroll. The words “Open Access” appear in a red circle.
📘 Cawley et al. argue there are significant gaps & inconsistencies in the national curriculum guidance on the teaching of #spelling, which in turn leads to a lack of teacher confidence in spelling tuition and non-optimal teaching strategies.

The first full year of tracking research on @bsky.app
Hi, we are Altmetric, and we track how research is communicated across the web.
We now have one full calendar year of Bluesky research data and thought we'd have a looksie.
You do hear that in the UK, yes.
This week is Dyslexia Awareness Week #DAW25 and #WorldMentalHealthDay.
We found that mental health and self-esteem are top priorities for the dyslexia community, but little UK research funding goes to this area. doi.org/10.1002/dys.70004
Research funding must be targeted to support mental health.
Fantastic news about the PALS reading programme here

Me again. Apparently Dawlish is famous for its black swans. So both things are true.
Or on rereading, I think it is because he is going to a 'waterfowl centre' - some kind of young offenders institute I assume. He will be pretty locked down.
I think there are swans of his species there, so they will keep him in line?
Rachel wearing very flimsy looking apron, mask and visor in NHS setting
Here I am in 2020 in the flimsiest, most pitful PPE - like so many other NHS staff, some of whom died from the Covid they caught in their hospitals.
Tory peer Michelle Mone - who today lost her legal case & must repay the govt £122m - dares to claim she’s been ‘scapegoated’.
What, Michelle? 🧵
Reminds me of the time the sheep broke into the school playing field in our village. That was a great day.
I am so with this endeavour/ endeavor! The other week it wouldn't accept roman - what?
Are you young, highly educated and driven, and want to contribute to our stagnant economy with its aging population and low productivity? Well out you go
Anyone looking for a great postdoctoral position? Here's one at Oxford University and they would love to have someone great! It's even out of the US -- a special bonus. Post-doctoral position in developmental/cognitive psychology at Oxford Brookes, UK

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

Corey Wiley on Twitter writes: "You don’t get it. Foundational immigration law is morally just and has been established over millennia. Disrespecting these rules and ideals is very offensive to folks who highly value civilized society"
Not true.
I see you're a luxury watch dealer. I'm also interested in watches. Let me show you how free and easy migration has allowed you to earn a living. 🧵
Very excited that the new SASC Spld report format based on the Delphi Definition cites my books as useful sources of information regarding evidence based interventions! And look whose names my name is sandwiched between!
I'm doing my Dave Dance right now.
