The University of Minnesota Libraries is hiring an archivist for the Social Welfare History Archives. hr.myu.umn.edu/jobs/ext/373... Amazing collection and, of course, very cool co-workers!

FYI, in case folks don't know, last year and the year before the Elmer L Andersen Library and its underground storage facility were part of Doors Open, but it's a different facility this year. It will be the first time for the new Library Collections Facility, which has only been open a year.
I feel traumatized every time the ad comes on and have to turn the sound off and look away.
Anyone else disturbed by the ad for a pain med (not going to name it, but it starts with J) that has been in high rotation during Olympics coverage? Why do they think an ad w/ppl breaking bones in fairly gruesome ways, getting bunions cut off, & generally undergoing trauma is going to sell this??
Tomorrow is my birthday too. I'll be 57, so let's add at least 3 more donations to that total. I'll go first.
Wait, so this is exactly the same deal??

Whereas Prince had enough magnetism and charisma to make up for the character being kind of a jerk, the actor playing The Kid in the stage show can't quite pull that off. Granted it's a pretty tall order, and I did think his singing was great. The acting was wooden.
Yeah I saw a preview, and while I enjoyed it (even at 3.5 hours) the show -- and the lead, in particular -- didn't quite seem ready for Broadway, IMO. A problem for me was that The Kid was not very likeable, and Appollonia, who was the more sympathetic character, didn't really get a happy ending
@governorwalz.mn.gov ???
I'll join your team!
Had a fantastic time volunteering with Solcana Fitness and helping to raise almost $135K at Drop Deadlift Gorgeous today. The vibe reminded me how awesome Mpls still is, esp the little nexus of cool businesses and orgs on Lake and Minnehaha www.instagram.com/reel/DPHgONJ...
I (also Jewish) worked as an archivist for the YMCA Archives (they are located at the UMN Libraries) for over 20 years and it's an org with almost 175 yrs of fascinating history in the US.
Hmmm. I'm still bitter about the parking citation I got in dntwn St Paul while legally parked at a paid for meter. Fortunately I had the receipt to prove it, but getting it dismissed was a huge PITA. It felt like they were counting on folks giving up because it would be easier to just pay the fine.
Seconding the comment re: Make Me Admin! I've been at UMN for 20+ years and always had some kind of admin access when I needed it. Unfortunately I think ppl have very different experiences with this sort of thing depending on their dept, but you can now apply for MMA directly from OIT via a form.
I have fond memories of Vyvyan eating the telly.
It's legitimate labor, IMO. You've consistently posted content that is relevant to me as an archivist. I day go for it!
Stay away from the waves. Did you hear about the guy near Lutsen? www.startribune.com/man-dies-aft... Yikes!!
No Lyndale this year. Hennepin instead, but only about 10 blocks. Since a big chunk of Hennepin in that area is already closed for construction it hardly even counts, IMO. The last two years on Lyndale were definitely low key compared to previously, and a much smaller section of the street. Lame-o.
Sooo I was at a coffee shop and the girl in line behind me decided to ask if I’d heard about Jesus.
In the United States.
In 2025.
“I have heard the sales pitch, yes,” I said. “I’m happy with my current religious services provider and not looking to make a switch.”
Yeah a lot of us couldn't really hear, even with the bullhorn and didn't know what was going on so we just went rogue and toured on our own. The cats seemed OK with it.
Srsly this is helicopter-worthy news?? It's vibrating my whole house at 22nd and Hennepin.
Check out Moroccan Flavors in Midtown Global Market, a hidden gem tucked away in a corner. It's usually open later than many of the other places in the building and it's delicious!
+1 on Habanero. Also Morroccan Flavors in Midtown Global Market is a hidden gem!
Yes that song in the TLD version just exuded so much joy
