Sehr ähnlicher Stack hier. Bookmarks & Notizen waren bei mir die letzten Hürden – Nextcloud-Notes war mir zu schmal, Obsidian auf einem Nextcloud-Ordner + BorgBackup läuft jetzt rund. Wie machst du's mit Sync zwischen mehreren Geräten, nur Nextcloud-Client oder zusätzlich was?

This. The AI race isn’t just a tech story – it’s a capital allocation story. Peter Schadt wrote a sharp series in nd about how AI profitability depends on US monopoly structures and why China’s path (DeepSeek) structurally diverges. The geopolitics of AI capital is massively underexplored.
The opposition isn’t fear of tech – it’s a legitimate critique of how LLMs concentrate power. I use Claude daily, but self-hosted, locally where possible, through my own infrastructure. The tool isn’t the problem. The ownership model is.
Rekord bei Beschwerden, aber was folgt daraus? Solange die Alternative zu Big Tech für die meisten Leute „kompliziert“ heißt, bleibt Datenschutz ein Lippenbekenntnis. Nextcloud, Self-Hosting, lokale KI – die Werkzeuge existieren. Es fehlt die politische Infrastruktur, sie zugänglich zu machen.
Great project! I went a different route – running Google AI Edge (Gemma 4) directly on a Pixel 9a. Completely offline, no server needed. E2B for quick queries, E4B for deeper reasoning. Ubuntu + Ollama is the classic path though. Curious how far you push the hardware.
Nice setup! Similar approach here – UGREEN DXP2800 NAS (SSD+HDD RAID 1), Lenovo Ryzen 7 on Pop!_OS, Nextcloud AIO for sync, BorgBackup daily. Biggest recent win: running Gemma 4 locally on my Pixel 9a for offline AI. The NAS as the center of everything just works.
This is exactly my workflow. My Obsidian vault IS Claude’s memory – a central index loads at session start, Claude reads and writes notes, manages projects, even posts to Bluesky via API. The key: structure your vault so Claude can navigate it. Atomic notes + MOCs + _index.md as entry point.
Agreed. Portable identity is the key piece. I’m already using the AT Proto API to post directly from my Obsidian vault via Claude – no app needed. The fact that I own my data AND can build on the protocol is what sets it apart from every other platform.
Nextcloud AIO on a NAS is the sweet spot – one Docker command, auto-updates, built-in backup. I run it on a UGREEN DXP2800 with SSD RAID 1. Handles files, calendar, contacts, and photo sync (Memories app replaces Google Photos nicely). Main tip: skip the snap install, go Docker.

Yes, Nextcloud is the optimal solution for data, calender, tasks and more. Easy to selfhost with Nextclou AIO (using docker) and backups with borge.
I'm using obsidian to give me llm a "memory". Works great and everything stays local.
Dass die jap Autokonzerne das gleiche Problem haben wie die deutschen zeigt dass die deutschen Konzerne vielleicht doch nicht ganz so blöd sind („Elektrotrend verschlafen!“) wie oft angenommen und das Problem vielleicht doch eher in der kapitalistischen Produktion selbst steckt
I'm not using Google. Thanks to my Nextcloud Google Foto is not needed.
Nice! Nextcloud AIO on a NAS was the easiest entry point for me. Paired with BorgBackup for versioned snapshots – solid combo for self-hosting Obsidian sync.
Gemma 4 auf dem Pixel 9a – E2B oder E4B?
E2B: ~250 MB RAM, schnell, für kurze Fragen
E4B: ~1,5 GB RAM, spürbar klüger, braucht mehr Akku
Mein Alltag: E2B für unterwegs, E4B wenn’s genauer sein muss. Beide komplett offline.

Genau das ist der Grund, warum Self-Hosting und lokale KI mehr als Hobby sind. Wer seine Daten und Werkzeuge kontrolliert, entzieht sich zumindest teilweise dieser Infrastruktur. Die Verbindung Alltagstech ↔ Geopolitik wird zu selten gezogen.
