Can't help the embarrassment now, but there's still time to authentically engage with the subject of nuclear energy and overcome her tribal anti-nuclear priors.

How Energy Choices After Fukushima Impacted Human Health and the Environment A new paper examines CO2 emissions and mortality rates after Japan and Germany shifted away from nuclear power.

Many many more people died and will die inthe future as result of reduction in nuclear generation in Japan and Germany.

Good study from Columbia:

The Head of the International Energy Agency slammed past nuclear phaseouts.

"France bringing their share of nuclear energy down is like selling the Eiffel Tower to someone else"

On Germany, "They made a historical mistake by shutting down nuclear power plants that were working like a Swiss clock"

Extending the operation of #nuclear power #plants in Belgium and Germany would have benefited both the #climate and the #economy, not only in those countries but across the European Union.

I call myself a pro science progressive because I'm pro vaccine, nuclear, and GMO, because I understand the science but also because I care about people and the planet

I'm part of the climate anxiety generation, but I found hope in science.

Championing science has resulted in me being attacked by the left for defending the science on nuclear energy, & the right for defending climate science.

Science, not dogma, will lead to a better future.

End of the Road for Australian Nuclear? Three Inconvenient Truths. The 2025 federal election was over quite quickly, and just as quickly came the revelry of Australia’s anti-nuclear campaign. Keeping with tradition, theirs is far from a clean victory. Here are three ...

Maybe *some* stakeholders still want to claim a referendum-style win on this basis...

In response, Ketan has singled me out in this piece + on social media as a “evidence-free bro” trying to create a "Fukushima moment" for RE.

I likely partly motivated him to write this piece calling attention to the lack of discussion of Spanish nuclear’s shortcomings.

Ketan mocks the inertia chatter re: the Spain outage while misunderstanding inertia.

Inertia doesn’t scale with generation output but rather with spinning generator mass. Spain had 4 reactors online, 2 at 70% power, providing inertia equivalent to 4 reactors at full power! More thoughts below.🧵

I should have come up with this analogy way earlier to explain why a future clean energy system will likely use a mix of both cheaper (solar, batteries, wind) and pricier (nuclear, geothermal, hydro, offshore wind, etc) electricity generation technologies.

Some thoughts on that "$4 trillion" economic cost of going nuclear in Australia. Obviously, it was a report that intended to create a large figure and a large figure they made.

But here's the thing, what they present as issues being exclusive to the nuclear pathway should be debated 🧵⤵️ #auspol

✨ Today I learned that a Professor of Design Studies is considered an economist.

ChatGPT makes light work of gathering 60 academic bios. It would be awfully embarrassing if half of those names weren't "economists, energy analysts and policy specialists"

If you read down to page 16 you might have found it.

It's weird having to correct the current Energy minister on something that was found in about 2 minutes in a 45 page document…

What is the Cost of Lies? $600 Billion. Maybe even higher according to actual detailed analysis.

❝The eye-popping sum of “$600bn” was not so concisely rebutted, and has unfortunately taken root in much of the subsequent coverage and discussion as pre-election politics approaches a rolling boil.❞

Lazard: ❝Total LCOE, including firming cost, does not represent the cost of building a 24/7 firm resource on a single project site.❞

CSIRO GenCost headlines are centred on comparing LCOE values... what I consider to be a fatal flaw with the team's work.

Xiao, please note the limited price setter behaviour of my state's dominant energy sources www.aer.gov.au/industry/reg...

Also note that purple segment for 2024 Q2 was $240/MWh

We strongly reject this attempt to undermine women’s autonomy and achievements by turning energy policy into a culture war. Women’s voices, in all their diversity, deserve to be heard—especially in shaping a sustainable, equitable future.

It also erases the incredible contributions of women in nuclear science who are delivering clean, reliable energy for millions around the world.
