My knowledge of current medical research is cutting edge. 😂
Probably the same thinking as those who research if eating boogers enhances your immune system. Heal thyself hopefuls?

I recently read that

I agree with you (at this point, anyway, having only read two of her novels).
Great photo!
New book alert! I was a research assistant for @sharonmharris.bsky.social on her new #biography of Elizabeth Jordan, HER LIFE IN INK, and it was a joy to record this interview with her for the @bookcougars.bsky.social The interview begins at 1:03:00.

Excellent! I’ve added this msg to my TBR note and will check-back when I read any of these. Thanks so much.
This is fantastic—thanks, Ben! I LOVED Doomsday Book, and might try the sequel to that book. Do you have an absolute favorite among the authors or books you’ve listed?
Kindred & Fledgling by Octavia Butler are favorites (I couldn't get into Parable of the Sower, but I will try that again eventually). More recently The Obsidian Sisterhood series by Lydia Hawke. As I type this, I remember that Ursula K. Le Guin has been on my list to try.
Also wanting to read some nonfiction political books in the saving our democracy sub genre and sci-fi / fantasy fiction. Open to recommendations!

Are there any Vigée Le Brun experts on here? Do we know where her studio was during the 1770–80s? Presumably Paris, but ... where 👩🎨
I'm trying to paint a picture (lol) of her working life, but haven't been able to pin it down for certain #18c
New reading project underway.

Thanks, Mary Carol!
Attention all biography and Willa Cather fans!
I just heard someone talking about this yesterday, how essays are (or can be) places where people try to understand what they think. I took an essay writing course last summer, and each essay that fellow students shared was impactful in some way. I forgot about that aspect of the experience.
Hope you enjoy! I listened to it on audio. Curious to see where the second book will lead.
Yes, please!
That's encouraging! I looked at one point, but didn't come across much. Will see how next weekend goes (although I'm not sure how much of the game I'll be able to catch due to a prior commitment).
I posted recaps of the fiction and nonfiction that I read last year, and then realized I'd forgotten some books. The kicker is, all of these were fantastic reads.

I haven't been on social media much lately, but during last weekend's #ChicagoBears game (buh-bye Packers), I found myself missing the old days of Twitter when I could check in to read all the chatter about bad ref calls, etc.
Sara Wynn-Williams offers a behind the scenes peek into how FB helped Trump's first campaign in Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism.
I love her novels, and just finished reading A Backward Glance -- now love her even more!
I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone will be reading.
