How I made my skills update themselves · Joost.blog Skills install as loose folders with no package manager. Here's the pattern I landed on after publishing a first attempt and getting corrected on LinkedIn.

I posted about self-updating skills. I had searched and not found a better method, but asked for input. And I got it! So now, the updated version of my post tells you how to make your skills update easily:

Unfortunately I think there's an issue getting an update from #GitUpdater 12.23.x to 12.24.0 a manual update will be required.

Can be done via the update webhook and adding `&plugin=git-updater`query arg to the webhook. The base for the webhook is found in the Remote Management tab.

Sorry 😞

FAIR: Successes, Lessons, and What’s Next - Half-Elf on Tech FAIR 1.3 is out, but the rollercoaster isn't over. The "chicken and egg" of funding neutral infrastructure has never been tougher. But we keep going.

Can I just say this week has been a long year?

The FAIR project is nowhere near over.

FAIR, WordPress, and Knowing When to Stop We remain committed to WordPress. We remain critical where criticism is needed. We remain hopeful that governance can improve.

For slightly over a year, Joost de Valk and I have been trying to get FAIR "off the ground" for the WordPress ecosystem. We have now come to the conclusion that funding this effort is not going to happen. But... there's a silver lining!

Searching the plugin repository isn’t perfect. It’s done via an ElasticSearch and sometimes even searching the exact plugin name doesn’t show the results you would expect.

Can you paste the query?

Just ask the question. Maybe we can find you and answer.

Writers have been using me long before the advent of AI. I am the punctuation equivalent of a cardigan—beloved by MFA grads, used by editors when it’s actually cold, and worn year-round by screenwriters. I am not new here. I am not novel. I’m the cigarette you keep saying you’ll quit.

We added built-in CI/CD that is GitHub actions compatible so you can use the same workflows and steps as you would over there too, to make the transition easier.
