Without further ado … the world debut of my first ever solo clarinet EP, “Making the Thing”.
Let me know what you think?

New mantra:
Creating tangible things with intention which do not benefit the fucking algorithm.
I went and played some tunes on my clarinet at The Littlest Bakeshop open mic in KCMO tonight and omgosh did I need that so bad. 🥰🥰🥰

Well here’s another!
Learning that instrument was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
Now I play with a couple different community bands, including the Mid America Freedom Band, which is an LGBT+Allies band here in KC.
Happy birthday 🎊
Most local music stores will rent you an instrument.
That’s how I got my first clarinet when I started teaching myself about 5 years ago.
It was $30 a month I could have taken it back at any time. The rental fee covered routine maintained.
And after I think 3 years it became my clarinet. 🥰🥰🥰

Fellow musicians: do you enjoy watching true first reads, or do you prefer hearing something after it’s lived a little?
This piece is from TomPlay — I’m sight reading it with their accompaniment track. Affiliate link in bio if you want to check it out.
Actually … just read your reply below about it controlling a light in addition to the outlet … that’s getting more tricky.
You just need to bypass the switch.
Not impossible if you’re handy.
Pretty sure that is exactly what they want to happen
When I was first learning clarinet as an adult, practicing alone was the hardest part.
TomPlay gave me level-appropriate music with real accompaniment, and it’s one of the reasons I stuck with it.
There’s a two-week free trial if you’re curious. (affiliate link in bio)
I’ve been waiting for perfect conditions instead of letting my clarinet music exist.
I’m done waiting.
I’m choosing motion over perfection
and sharing that journey first on Patreon.

It’s the weekend and I’m feeling good 😊 #clarinet
Almost a year ago I made the insane choice to announce my intention of becoming a professional clarinetist after having mostly taught myself in my 40s.
Shortly after that my life more or less fell apart.
But the dream lives on. I have no idea what it looks like anymore. But it is still there.
I know people that play each of those!
I pretty much just play Bb clarinet … some day maybe I’ll be able to afford a bass clarinet. 🥰
💯
Omgosh the fleece lined leggings love them so much just ordered two more pair 🥰🥰🥰
Which do you prefer … color or b&w?

Why I Started Playing Clarinet in My 40s

I play with the Mid America Freedom Band, an LGBTQ concert band here in KC. Friday was our season finale and we premiered this timpani concerto which we commissioned to celebrate our new timpani.

Dooo it!! I picked up the clarinet in my 40s. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. 🥰
