Big news from the US this morning. How this is will impact us here is Canada is yet to be determined, but it's definitely great news for Canadian exporters.
As expected, the Bank of Canada announced this morning that they will maintain the overnight rate at 2.25%, meaning Bank Prime remains at 4.45%. The expectation is that rates will remain relatively stable for the balance of 2026, with possible increases in Q3 / Q4.

As expected, the Bank of Canada announced this morning that they are holding the overnight rate at 2.75% which means bank prime holds steady at 4.95%. We seem to be approaching the end of the rate cuts, with most economists suggesting that there won't be much more, if any.
