I agree.

Trump has genius instincts but no ideological inputs. Nothing beyond survive and amass power.

His handlers have an ideology but it’s kind of irrelevant to his success at moving it forward. Their ideology sincerely is a mashup of eugenics & scifi whiteness.

Well there are 5 candidates running for mayor who aren’t in Trump’s back pocket, aren’t funded by MAGA mega donors, don’t have long histories of harassment, haven’t spent $60 million of our taxes to go after victims, and haven’t defunded the subway and public hospitals. Maybe consider them?

Are any of you optometrists or ophthalmologists? If so, I have a question about something I heard today.

BTW, rather than reply, acknowledge what they were doing, and own it, there was radio silence after I sent that.

Which is why I’ve pretty much stopped using social media, except for our local FB Buy Nothing group.

And I’m still not sure how to do it. I have multiple accounts on multiple mastodon servers. Do I need all those accounts? If I wanted to join your community would I need yet another account?
It’s just hard to understand.
Agree with you about this place, tho…. +

Also the apps sucked, I felt like I had to keep switching servers to see what people were saying - posts on supposedly federated servers simply weren’t showing up for me as a single feed. That might have been bc of the apps but
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly, mastodon (federation, how to find people, how many accounts you should/n’t have, etc) was way too complicated for me to understand. For the minimal time I spend on social media, this is probably my new home now.

Please don’t give away your labor to for-profits for free. Capitalism thrives on free and very low-cost labor. It’s coercive, exploitative, violent, unjust.

It’s mostly white people who talk about echo chambers. Maybe you need the internet to meet people with different ideas but the rest of us do not. We know what the “other side” thinks because we deal with it every day! Everywhere! We’re fine. Carry on. Happy Saturday!

A lib vendor asked me to speak at their upcoming webinar.
Me: what are you paying?
Them: can’t pay b/c it’s a free webinar for which attendees get a certificate.
Me: 🤔😕😠
Me: “I don’t work for free. And I advise other librarians to also not work for free, especially for for-profit companies.”

Jim Jordan becomes first to announce run for speaker His candidacy will likely run right into Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), who is also considering a speakership bid and has worked to court conservatives.

Jim Jordan, who actively participated in efforts to steal the election and turned a blind eye to sexual abuse of young men in his care, is running for Speaker.

My tweets: if Jim Jordan emerges as a serious Speaker candidate, we're gonna have an actual sustained conversation about his turning a blind eye to sexual abuse of his wrestlers at Ohio State, right? Because I'm seeing too much coverage of the "horse race" that doesn't mention it.

More than a half dozen of his former wrestlers are publicly on record saying Jordan knew about the abuse. None of them say he did anything about it - until it became public and he begged one of them to cover for him.

A professional referee said in a lawsuit that the abuser performed sex act in front of him in the showers after a wrestling match at OSU - and he reported it to Jordan.

My tweets: On top of those wrestlers who reported sexual abuse to Jordan themselves or witnessed someone else reporting it, numerous people associated with the OSU wrestling program have flatly stated there's no way Jordan *couldn't* have known what was going on.

Jordan claims he was "exonerated" by the Perkins Coie investigation into OSU's handling of the sexual abuse. He wasn't - his name isn't mentioned in the final report. What becomes apparent from that report is that it stretches the imagination to think he was unaware of the abuse.

If there's a real possibility Jordan will be Speaker next week, it is incumbent on the media to speak with folks like Shawn Dailey, Adam DiSabato, Michael DiSabato, Mike Flusche, Mike Glane, Dan Ritchie, Tito Vasquez and Dunyasha Yetts again. Their stories deserve to be heard.

I just realized that the three groups of numbers in my phone number each add up to 17. Isn’t that odd?
