Honoured and overwhelmed to receive the 2026 Waddington Medal. Science is a team effort, and I've been fortunate to work alongside exceptional people asking hard questions. Thank you to the BSDB and to everyone who has been part of the journey.

Thank you π€
Couldn't be more deserved! What's better than getting an award? Getting an award with a friend!
Truly honoured to receive the @bsdb.bsky.social Marie Johansson prize! A testament to Marieβs legacy and the mentors/collaborators I was lucky to work with.
Such a privilege to grow in the #DevBio community that's supported me since the start of my career.
Looking forward to more exciting science!
Awww what an honour to still be featured on this page! π€π
Huge congratulations to James Briscoe @jamesbriscoe.bsky.social for receiving the 2026 BSDB Waddington Medal, recognising an extraordinary career of discovery, mentorship, and leadership in developmental biology.

π Weβre delighted to announce the winner of the 2026 BSDB Dennis Summerbell Award!
This yearβs award goes to Sergio Menchero @sermenchero.bsky.social, recognised for exceptional contributions to developmental biology and for carrying forward the curiosity and rigour that Dennis championed.
Happy to share this work from Carlos Camacho de la Maccora that reveals how rates of posterior progenitor addition and anterior vacuolation are balanced across the notochord. With Alberto Ceccarelli and @osvaldo-chara.bsky.social we present a model of long-range communication to provide robustness.
Cover of the December 1996 issue of Development that describes the results of The Big Screen.
Published 30 years ago, 'The identification of genes with unique and essential functions in the development of the zebrafish, Danio rerio' by the NΓΌsslein-Volhard Lab highlighted the arduous work that took place during 'The Big Screen'. In total, 1163 mutants were described. #ZebrafishFunFacts π§ͺ
I think that, like with art, papers offer an opportunity for you to tell the story your own way. Could another person research the same question? Yes. However, each person has the opportunity to do it and communicate it in their own way, and we must protect that π§ͺ
