authorities dispersed protesters in 2020 so President Trump could have his photo taken with a Bible in front of a Washington church. Doug Mills/The New York Times
By Ruth Graham
April 17, 2026
President Trump has a complicated relationship with the Bible. He has often called it his favorite book, has posed with it for photographers outside a church and has sold his own edition for $60. But he has also struggled to name a favorite passage or even pick a favorite Testament between the two.
Shameful opening graf:
“President Trump has a complicated relationship with the Bible”
- NYT @ruthgraham.bsky.social
This piece further degrades “trust” in journalism.
-grotesque euphemism
-stenography
-sanewashing
-view-from-nowhere reporting.
-devoid of context of his unchristian actions

Legacy media editors continue to sanewash and give the Trump regime the benefit of the doubt.
Tuesday: Trump “a civilization will die tonight”
Wednesday: “cease fire”!
[narrator: there was no cease fire]
Sanewashing.

It’s journalism malpractice to quote trump on the status of rhen Iran war without including actual facts and evidence. Trump says’ is not reliable on its own. Journalists
& headline writers know this but keep sanewashing trump anyway.

This speech is insane. Our President is a lunatic. Also, he sounds like a moron. A real low IQ individual. Don’t be numb to how crazy this is.

and look, the media has been incredibly and embarrassingly subservient to him so far
but we are really getting into “stink of failure” territory here
that’s why Fox threw Bush overboard, and while the bar for doing the same to Trump is really high I don’t know if it’s insurmountable

Trump building "massive" military complex beneath ballroom: what to know
President Donald Trump has said the new White House ballroom "essentially becomes a shed for what's being built under."
So the rumors were true. Bunker Boy wanted a $400,000,000 place to hide. That figure is *double* what Karoline Leavitt said the "ballroom" would cost. How much of that increase will wind up in Donald's pockets?

It would be great if reporters didn't keep buying in to Trump's framing of this. Smith didn't prosecute Trump for having classified documents; he charged him—rightly—with willful retention of national defense information. The classification of the records was irrelevant. bsky.app/profile/info...

If we made the green energy transition this war would be unthinkable and these authoritarians wouldn’t be in power — not in the US, not in Iran, not in Saudi Arabia, not in Russia. Hydrocarbons are killing our freedom and just plain killing us.

FCC chair threatens to throttle news broadcasts over ‘hoaxes’ about Iran war
Brendan Carr posts that he may cancel spectrum permits of ‘mainstream news’ outlets for ‘misleading’ coverage
I find this terrifying that Trump regime is threatening to block media from reporting because they are not reporting favourably on the war with Iran. That is what a dictatorship does not a democracy

Denial of quarter—even the declaration of no quarter—is a war crime.
And recognized as such by the US Government.

Kimmel Goes Nuclear on Newsmax Host for Trying to Get Him Fired
“How does this not embarrass them?” Kimmel asked of the network.
It would be cool if prominent figures and journalists aggressively called out right wing propagandists instead of routinely leaving the task to late night comedians and satirists

These attacks are focused on eliminating human life - the US is bombing schools and Israel is destroying desalination plants. It is raining oil-soaked acid rain in Tehran
This is why so many have been screaming for years that the climate movement should be paying attention to Gaza

Like clock work. Whenever Republicans run the government, they trash the economy for working people. Prices go up. 10 of the last 11 recessions were under Republican Presidents.
Good for the mega corporations and billionaires, bad for everyone else.

There's something deeply obscene and broken about the fact that Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are bombing elementary schools in an illegal war of aggression, and there's still a sense among the opposition that it has to be explained in terms of gas prices in order to get American voters to care.

This vote should disqualify Kelly from running for President.
Hang this around his neck. In February 2026 after Pretti and Good, after the SOTU and all the fascism, Mark Kelly was STILL voting for Trump nominees. His presidential run is over.

Kristi Noem Must Be Impeached
Members of Congress have a constitutional duty to remove this gangster from office.
BREAKING: FBI notifies Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension that it won’t provide access to evidence it’s collected on the killing of Alex Pretti by armed and masked federal agents.
Perhaps this would be a good time to note that 187 members of Congress are signed on to Impeach Kristi Noem:

Propaganda, Rather than Pandemic Policies, Caused the War on Public Health
The backlash narrative ignores basic facts of the case.
More from @liberalcurrents.com, from November by @zeblarson.bsky.social. It deserves to be widely read. It's the most sober-minded version of how liberal backlash to COVID mitigation measures set the table for the take-over of public health by the far-right. www.liberalcurrents.com/propaganda-r...
