On the left, text reads "In the summer of 1892, an American company charted a schooner to coastal Labrador to recruit Inuit for an ethnological exhibit to be presented the following year at the World’s Columbian Exposition. Performance and Protest explores Inuit resilience at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Forced to play a role popularized by early Arctic explorers, Inuit from Labrador took their employers to court, challenging stereotypes in a landmark case.
