Visited the giant Stanley Cup while up in Edmonton for meetings. Mayor Knack… it’s been a while. Are you still allowed to have that?

SASS met with Mayor Farkas where he signed a proclamation proclaiming April as Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month. We were honored to be able to sit with the Mayor and share about autism, SASS' work, and witness this proclamation! @jeromyyyc.bsky.social

Great to join Ryan Jesperson and Edmonton Mayor Andrew Knack in studio on Real Talk!
Got a few good jabs in (no, I'm not ready to put on that Oilers jersey quite yet!) but overall great conversation on infrastructure, working with other orders of government,
Regardless of our diferences, we have one shared responsibility to deliver for Calgarians.
Six months in, that work is making a difference.
Landon Johnston has brought a small business perspective to Council. He has asked tough questions and kept a focus on costs and long term impacts.
All of us have brought to the table different strengths, and we are seeing that reflected in the rebound in confidence in City Hall.
Dan McLean has taken on a mentorship role with many of the new councillors, especially when it comes to constituency work. He has also been a strong voice on financial responsibility and has joined me personally at great lengths as an advocate to other orders of government.
Mike Jamieson has brought the perspective of a successful business leader, pulling double duty as my Deputy Mayor with a gruelling the community events schedule. He has reinforced fiscal responsibility, good board governance, and long term sustainability in our decisions.
Rob Ward has represented one of the most challenging wards in the city (take it from me - I know!). He has stayed closely connected to residents while delivering on local priorities.
Andre Chabot has provided invaluable institutional memory and has been a solid ambassador of the city to the rest of the province. His experience has helped guide Council through complex infrastructure and policy decisions.
Harrison Clark has helped give a voice to those who often feel unheard. I am so proud to know that he represents the neighbourhood I grew up in. He has also brought urgency and energy to the housing conversation.
Nathaniel Schmidt has contributed a strong focus on public safety, housing, and the experience of young families in our city. He has also worked to strengthen governance and accountability at City Hall.
Myke Atkinson has advanced transit, environmental, and accessibility priorities. I see him as the heart and conscience of our Council, focusing on supporting our most vulnerable, especially on housing.
John Pantazopoulos has contributed a strong business perspective, helping Council deliver the lowest tax increase in at least twenty years. He has reinforced governance, discipline, and sound decision making.
Raj Dhaliwal has kept public safety at the forefront. He has also championed recreation and community spaces across the city.
DJ Kelly was one of my personal inspirations to run for office ten years ago and has brought deep expertise on infrastructure and how government systems work. He has helped ensure decisions are practical and deliverable.
Andrew Yule is a consistent advocate for transit and recreation and has helped push a more regional, team approach to city building. He has advanced the Prairie Economic Gateway and strengthened collaboration across municipalities.
Jennifer Wyness has contributed strong long term thinking and leadership in audit and capital planning. She has also served as an important devil’s advocate, strengthening decisions through rigorous debate.
Kim Tyers has brought thoughtful, steady leadership, advocating for the area hardest hit by recent infrastructure issues including the watermain break. She has helped keep decisions grounded in community impact.
A reset on blanket rezoning. A disciplined 2026 budget. Major decisions on transit funding, public safety... including our largest infrastructure moonshot in a generation with the feeder main replacement.
Around our table, each councillor has made their mark.
Six months in, I deeply appreciate the early show of confidence. It means a lot. Our Council team has taken on big challenges, and each councillor has contributed immensely to the rebound in confidence we're seeing.
Appreciated the warm welcome from Minister Dan Williams and the visit to the Legislature. In my time in elected office, I’ve worked with many different municipal ministers. Minister Williams very clearly understands our challenges and opportunities. Grateful for his leadership and partnership.
A deal is a deal.
Assessment of this section of pipe remains important, and we are evaluating options for completing the inspection at a later date once we have incorporated learnings from the first launch.
There are no impacts to our ability to supply water to Calgary and the region. We do not anticipate any water restrictions will be needed as we complete this work.
Unfortunately, the PipeDiver stopped moving near the beginning of its inspection and attempts to get it “swimming” again were unsuccessful. Our crews are planning to retrieve the PipeDiver this week.
Current operation of the feeder main is not affected.
PipeDiver inspection of the Bearspaw South Feeder Main update
Last Thursday, we attempted to use a robotic PipeDiver to complete a proactive condition assessment of the steel section of the Bearspaw South Feeder Main.
Happy Vaisakhi! Today we celebrate renewal and the founding of the Khalsa. Calgary is stronger because of the Sikh community’s deep commitment to service, compassion, and lifting others up. Thank you for helping make our city what it is.
