Cool, never saw their tail! How old are they, and will they lose that sort of "notochord appendage"? Does it help them swim or is it phylogenetically constrained?

Made it 1/2 through my 1st semester as an assistant professor at the U. of Vermont AND as an "alien" in the US 🇺🇸 (what a time)... Highlights;
- Meeting great colleagues and students ❤️
- Teaching an exciting class (Ichthyology!!) 🐟
- Growth that comes with being outside of your comfort zone!😭💪
