For a while, Polyhedron Magazine had small d20-compatible mini-RPGs in the back, in a flipped format
2025 GoldenGeek Awards nominations are open, and we are continuing our probably-futile quest to at least make the final round of voting in the “podcast” category🎙️
We'd love to make it, if only to have *one* finalist w/o "meeple" in the title🥳

Armchair Dragoons Reviews Sea & Steel - Columbus' Voyages
This isn't just a game about landing a boat and planting a flag; it's a sophisticated, card-driven duel that respects its subject matter while offering the kind of tactical grit that keeps a wargamer's mind sharp.

Short Rounds! Headquarters Cold War
As you have probably discerned by now, the campaigns for HQ:CW offer the choice of playing as the Soviets or as NATO
Difficulty is customizable, which is very welcome, and I did not find the 'Reasonable' setting to be too difficult

Little Wargame with Italy '43
In particular, in Italy '43 Simonitch refines the combat resolution model in to get away from the classic straight-up 3:1 combat odds table and challenges players to reconsider their way of war by using column shifts

it's not just reading comprehension
multi-syllabic spoken words often have to be slowed down and repeated and gawd forbid you ask them for a doctrinal definition on a term they keep (mis)using

We're seeing reports online that COL Lou Zocchi has passed away, but have yet to find any hard confirmation
Hoping it's premature, but he was 91yo!
The word "legendary" gets overused in gaming a lot, but it's woefully insufficient for his decades-long career in hobby gaming (pic from Wikipedia)
Seriously question for you — what is it about the American Civil War that's captured your imagination?
The French brought home the win in our Peninsular Folly for "Lasalle 2", but it was to-and-fro the whole way. The Imperial Guard were ruined, but, in the end, there weren't enough quality Allied troops to hold the field. Great way to play on a double-sized map. @armchairdragoons.bsky.social
