OMG the Fred Again/ Thomas Bangalter set is on Apple Music and I’ve never wanted to go out and dance so much in my life.

I feel ya! I’m on a low potassium diet due to health issues which means I have to have limited potato and tomatoes. For the first time ever I have had rice (kitniyot).

Congratulations! Great achievement.

Very apt that on #WorldKidneyDay I had my first consultation with a renal dietitian to discuss how to lower my currently raised potassium.

Living with CKD is anxiety provoking. Every blood test brings that fear that eGFR has dropped and dialysis and transplant are getting closer. I have polycystic kidney disease so it is a “when” not an “if”…. /6 #worldkidneyday #dontkidyourself

Are all going to be under review to help keep it down. And don’t get me on controlling my blood pressure. I’m already on 3 meds, coming up to BNF max of all and it’s still not right… /5 #worldkidneyday

But it’s more than that. It’s feeling it in your bones tired. Other joys of an eGFR of 15 is your bloods start going a bit more “off”. I’m waiting for an appointment with a dietitian to discuss my potassium as it’s high- so the nice bits of food- chocolate, potatoes, tomatoes… #worldkidneyday

You then start doubting yourself, because when you are in your mid 40s everyone is bloody tired. Heck we are all trolled on public transport by the perma-tired floridax lady…./3

Honestly I am so tired. The fatigue is real. I still work full time, so by the time I sit down and eat dinner in the evening I am done. My concentration is shot by the end of the day…. /2 #worldkidneyday

It’s #worldkidneyday today. As someone on the cusp of stage 5 CKD (aka kidney failure) I’ll be sharing my random thoughts of what it’s like to live with it. First of all, it’s bloody exhausting….

KIDNEY DISEASE

Kidney disease is a journey no one plans nor asks for,
its symptoms are a warning from a damaged or failing system we must never ignore,
over seven million people have it in the UK
and not everyone realises before it's too late;
Kidney disease isn't just caused by a lifestyle decision,
Sometimes it's inherited but can be a manageable condition,
Better awareness and care can reduce the feelings of despair,
it's your early intervention, not the disease, that will determine your fate.

From Swollen ankles, feet or hands
to Blood or froth in your wee;
Extra tiredness, shortness of breath, difficulty concentrating and other less obvious symptoms to see,
You may feel or be sick and have persistently puffy eyes or face;
you may notice weight loss or loss of appetite, have itchy skin, discomfort in your lower back, side or abdomen, or need to wee more often,
If you have these symptoms please speak to your GP just in case.

Your kidneys work hard to keep you alive
by being aware and treating them with care your whole body will thrive,
Kidney disease strikes silently and it won't go away quietly,
It's incurable but in life there are no guarantees;
Stay hopeful but do what's necessary to heal, pay attention to your mental health and how your body feels,
You can do this and you have what it takes, because It takes heart to fight the impact of kidney disease.

My hairdresser went to the Brits and I’m contemplating booking an extra haircut just to hear her tell me how incredible Rosalia and Bjork was IRL.

Watching the Fred Again/ Thomas Bangalter videos and reminded of the time we turned down tickets to see Daft Punk and LCD Soundsystem as I was a witness at a friends wedding. 17 years later and we no longer speak to them and my husband still hasn't forgiven me.

🧵 Mental Health Nurses’ Day 2026.

Mental health nursing is often described in emotive language: compassion, resilience, care.

Those things matter.

But what often gets missed is the sophistication of the work.

Started watching ER on Netflix. I absolutely loved it when I was 14 and it probably contributed to me becoming a nurse. Watching it 30+ years later, it’s unbelievably infuriating. The clinical info is garbage at times, the treatment of delirium is horrific and the clinicians are inappropriate.

What was Myra Cavendish’s motivation for her actions in #thenightmanager ? It was never explained and just unbelievably frustrating!

The fact that she told them all she was FBI trained and nobody questioned it! I mean come on!

Is she good? Or is everyone else just that stupid?

Hmmmm… not convinced by this season of the Traitors now. Turning to be full of too many Apprentice style main characters. Normally they all tell Claudia they want to be faithfuls- this season they all wanted to be traitors and it shows.

Just realised this was about Berlin and not about The Pitt! I had an outstanding 36 hours there- flew out to see Radiohead.

I posted this the other night after watching it. I think it is the emotional toll of the ethical dilemmas that they face being so true even if it is across the pond. bsky.app/profile/jost...

It’s not out in the UK yet. We’ve been watching it on an “unofficial source”. It is excellent.
