That's the core issue
So either Starmer applies the standard he imposed on Guildford, or Starmer becomes guilty of the moniker two tier Keir, with one rule for him and another rule for others
Labour aren't cleaning up politics after 14 years of Conservative chaos if they are applying two different standards
The tragedy is, if Starmer and Mahmood made the case for Guildford to remain, saying lessons learned new protocols in place to avoid a similar slip up
Then they could have made the case for Starmer to stay, lessons learned, etc
But they created a new standard forcing him out
Specifically, when Craig Guildford acknowledged a mistake over the Maccabi ban, one made by others not him, and corrected the record, he was still forced to resign by Starmer and Mahmood
So if Labour are being consistent with their standards, Starmer would also resign as Guildford did
The thing about Starmer and Mandelson @mrjamesob.bsky.social isn't so much the mistake of the appointment, as Ed Miliband rightly observed this am, even prime ministers make mistakes
It's about setting standards then applying them fairly, which is what Labour suggested they would do after 14 years
Yep, but he's not wrong
And glad that both Miliband and Lammy thought it was a bad idea

Utterly surreal, Keir Starmer's Downing Street didn't think Peter Mandelson needed to pass security vetting π±
Olyy Robbins,"There was no stipulation from No 10 that Peter Mandelson should be vetted"
"A position taken from the Cabinet Office was that there was no need to vet Mandelson"
π―
Sophy Ridge, "Should Keir Starmer lose his job?"
Ed Miliband, "I don't think so"
Sophy Ridge, "He made the error as you admit"
Ed Miliband, "Prime Ministers make errors, they're fallible, they're human"
"As you know I steered well clear of Peter Mandelson when I became leader in 2010"
Yum!

Palantir in the NHS is linked to Mandelson
Mandelson is linked to Wes Streeting
Wes Streeting is defending Palantirβs involvement in the #NHS
Nothing to see or everything to see
Palantir must be removed from the NHS
He's bonkers
Probably healthier than a gulab jaman π€π
Going strong at 93, the human body is remarkable. Wishing him the absolute best π
They should be in every supermarket, a real tragedy that they're not :(
Good morning, can I tempt anyone with a sweet tooth with a super tasty gulab jaman? π
Have a good Tuesday βΊοΈπ

Keir Starmer, "Mandelson was given clearance, that was the clear position, he was given clearance, that's the fact as I've set them out"
Mark Francois smirks
