This abstract painting shows a kaleidoscopic interweaving of three paintings by other artists. "The Card Sharps" by Caravaggio shows a card game at a red table with a man signaling to his confederate who is pulling cards from behind his back; "The Bezique Game" shows distinguished gentlemen in suits smoking, drinking, and playing cards at a green velvet table; and "The Card Players" (one of several paintings by that name that the artist created) shows more ordinary folks playing cards at a white table with a couple of onlookers. Woven together, the scene shows a very lively gathering with many people impossibly gathered around a small table. There are many hands holding cards in various poses, and many faces from different angles pondering the game. The background is predominantly blue with some olive green.
