Woman finds Oscars red carpet in bin and puts it in her flat For one night, the Oscars red carpet is the most photographed floor in the world. By the next morning, it can be found strewn in a backstreet bin.

If only I had done this when LOTR: The Return of the King won 11 Oscars.

I suspect that the bulk of my followers don't realise I'm not the Aussie comedian. 🙃 Coincidentally, my late father, who was also named Tom Cardy, was a stand-up comedian who performed in the UK, Australia and New Zealand under the stage name Tommy Gordon.

I remember The Gordons once played a lunch-time gig in the Otago University's student union building. It was so loud that most of the students fled within the first few minutes. Those of us who remained had our first experience of tinnitus - but a good gig nonetheless.

Film, documentary maker Costa Botes dies after nearly a decade with cancer New Zealand documentarian and filmmaker Costa Botes found fame creating Forgotten Silver alongside Peter Jackson in the 90s.

😔One of the best Kiwi filmmakers of the past 50 years, a superb film reviewer, a keen mentor to many, & a passionate musician - & always a pleasure to meet & interview. Most of all: an all-round top bloke. He will be missed by many. My thoughts are with Costa's whānau.

I first saw this in the early 70s when I was a kid. While I managed to watch it in its entirety & loved the concept, I was scared the entire time. I didn't realise for decades that it was filmed in colour. Few homes then had colour television, so I always thought it was filmed in black-and-white.

Music pioneer behind one of the biggest hits of the 80s dies at 66 Dave Ball, one-half of pioneering synth-pop group Soft Cell, has died.

RIP Dave Ball - who, from my hazy memory of 27 March 1995, sported a white jumpsuit on stage as a member of The Grid while performing at Wellington's old Winter Show Building in support of M People!
