TEXT READS: even though the results are SO FUN, the process came with some setbacks: in order to not completely wash out the black, some vests ended up uneven or blotchy, and we chose not to sell them immediately. normal fast fashion sellers ask that these “flawed” items be destroyed, and their per-unit costs discounted, which is then passed on to the consumer as “savings” while creating hundreds of products worth of waste.
TEXT READS: we think this “invisible” process is wasteful and cruel to the craftspeople who make our clothes. why create with intentional flaws just to reject them? why create something new, just to reject the product of your creation?
TEXT READS: therefore! We’re offering these extra-irregular vests as b-grades with a small discount, straight out of our pockets. not only does this support our design work, it also supports the partnerships with our manufacturers. we want to try out weird, new methods of making clothes, and reject the concept that craftspeople with niche knowledge are valueless in the pursuit of profit.
TEXT READS: we’re already working on a V2 of this vest that has a smaller margin for error, but don’t tell anyone you saw it here ;) stay tuned, and THANK YOU!
