(2) You can 'play' the observations to see how fast the rain is approaching, and from which direction. It's the best way I've found of anticipating rain for the next 10-60 minutes. (Screenshot in above post shows radar map of London area's actual precipitation about 30 mins ago.)

For dwellers in the British Isles... The Met Office's online map of rainfall radar is a good way of anticipating rain. Ignore its forecast (which is reasonable), and instead go back over an hour or two of actual observations. www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/maps...

Does that mean it's going to flood every 18 months?I'd better put my waders on.
Yes, on both counts. I was so sad to hear of his passing today. And his performance in Brass was outstanding. Two series, forty years ago, but it still comes into my mind every few months, for one reason or another.

You maybe took the instruction a little too literally...
Just arrived here in the place where the skies are blue. Hello, nice people!
Yes, I've just arrived, and it's a great way to procrastinate by reading lots of interesting people -- rather than, you know... actually redrafting a short story... (to pick an example at random...)
