Day 23: Something found in a pocket or purse
The Cure- Siamese Twins
“Dancing in my pocket
Worms eat my skin”

I agree- I think Fontaines lyrics are ridiculously good.
I dunno. I guess good poetry leaves you working it around in your head trying to figure it out. I think of the priest here as a representative of that same power. A small microcosm of the same problem.
My favorite lyrics from this song are “cloud parting smile I had, a real good child I was, but this island’s run by sharks with children’s bones stuck in their jaws.”
I love this song. Brilliant lyrics. I’ve always assumed the penny part was about the ghastly amount of wealth the Catholic Church has amassed through the centuries, the power of the church over the people, the way gifts and donations can yield forgiveness etc etc
Of course they are just spouting their unsolicited opinion. I’m not paying them to manage my orchard so the annoyance is far lower than it would be in your situation.
Sometimes people have “ideas”. Some of our neighbors routinely weigh in on our mowing/ maintenance practices. In their opinion, a properly managed orchard has grass manicured like a golf course and poisoned dirt rings around the trees. The idea of an intact biodiverse ecosystem is utterly foreign.
Yes- that first glimpse of the Treasury from the Siq is magical!
Perfect one for this! I already used it for the “found under a bed” prompt, but I knew someone would have to pick it! 🖤

Hey-Jordan! Fantastic!
This is me (and my husband) in Jordan,16 years ago. We took a road trip from Aqaba to the north and had such a wonderful time!

Happy Birthday to our Patron Saint of Playful Hedonism. To celebrate, I wil gaze unflinching at the demise of the world around us, take manic joy in the things that delight me, and wear my black eyeliner extra heavy today.
Charm and a very accepting partner??
The other one here. Great choice! Lots of Cure beach options and I can’t think of a bad one! 🖤
“Something else” 😂

Day 21: Something found at the beach
The Cure- A Strange Day
“And the sand and the sea grows
I close my eyes
Move slowly through drowning waves
Going away on a strange day”

Beautiful. I feel like I can smell the fragrance through the photos!
The chiffchaff is adorable! Very assertive call for the fella. This is great for the “Aha! That’s what that is!” That was the white crowned sparrow for me. You hear it often in the woods. I love the rufous hummingbird’s display call when it is dive bombing. And cliff swallows sound like Predator.
The House Sparrows we both have appear to be the same bird. Your tits look like our chickadees and our goldfinch is a very yellow bird.
List of birds ID’d by Merlin app: Brown Creeper, House Sparrow, Cedar Waxwing, Band-tailed Pigeon, Violet-green Swallow, American Robin, chestnut- backed Chickadee, Bewick’s Wren, Black-capped Chickadee
List of birds identified by Merlin app: White-crowned Sparrow, Swainson’s Thrush, Western Wood-Pewee, European Starling, House Finch, Dark-eyes Junco, American Goldfinch, Purple Finch
It is a great app!! Interesting to see which birds frequent your place. European Robins always throw me. American Robins are a very common bird here- vocal and inquisitive and ubiquitous. Our robin was named by settlers because of their red breast but are entirely unrelated to your robin.
“Experiment with cocaine, LSD, and set a bad, bad example!!!” 😂
Great choice! Such a tragically gorgeous song. 🖤🖤🖤

Day 20: something hard to lift
The Cure- Faith
“Suddenly I see you change
Everything at once, the same
But the mountain never moves”

The wisteria is so pretty. Very few things are as quaint as the English countryside in spring with the thatched roofs and rambling vines and bushes in bloom. Just beautiful. 💕
Gorgeous!
Beautiful!
Thanks!
