Not "it's antisemitic to be against BABY-NOMMER-9000 just because Israel's involved"?...

(some days I hate my sense of humour)

Oh no, people are being blocked! However will they exercise their freedom of association?!

We need the counterpart ruling for "trans people are fine, actually" beliefs tbh

and I can go without having to play "does this person not know some of them use it to compare Pride to Weyland-Yutani having an ovipositor shoved down your throat, or are they one of the ones doing it?"

Oswald Mosely's grandson Louis Mosely is the head of Palantir's UK branch.

Personally I mostly tried shifting to "digital agency" ("digitale Handlungsfähigkeit" in German) because it talks about what it's about rather than pointing at the "evil other"

It's a bit too close to seeing cishets posts the "rainbow evil company logos" pic during pride month

Congrats and well done!

This from Palantir, the company Starmer and Streeting have trusted with our NHS data.

Let's face it, the fact I'd get a home server (and thus the rest of my network's connection) DDoSed by for-AI scrapers doesn't help!

It'd have to go sufficiently far as to completely break the 40K I used to know, I suspect?

Like, yeah, okay, Noise Marines snorting their own fans doesn't quite work as a joke any more. But you'd need an honourable Khorne, a consensual Slaanesh etc etc. Or at least manifestations that line up.

Also, "...the Imperium are still kinda shit at half of it" is one of those things where it's extremely unclear how many people living in it realise because of which characters are story-relevant

Minor personal (but also online trans community-wide) oof:

Having to remind people that She Who Thirsts is, amongst other things, the god of rape - and that might be relevant if someone either doesn't show irony or has actual history

It'd take them a decade at this point tbh, and intentionally doing more "actually happening now" imperial politics (I'm old enough to remember when there was no rolling story beyond accumulated stuff within the design team!)

I've known cats work out where the red dot comes from then after a while decide what the hell, it's fun.

Labour: stupider than cats.

I once handed someone I was mentoring a literal equation and told him to apply it throughout a pile of functional/equational-style code in a particular direction.

That's the sort of thing current AI is actually pretty shit at.

4 days ago 1 0 0 0

And that's before people get clever trying to push what they can do with it, which they're inevitably going to because they're under pressure to get more and more done.

4 days ago 1 0 1 0

The thing about working with AI is it's like working with a bunch of apprentices who don't really understand what they're doing.

The idea is the humans give instructions, vet etc etc. But the better it gets at not messing up, the harder it is to spot it when it does.

It's extremely plausible, and I'd go as far as "this was likely to happen sooner or later" - they're describing it as a "sophisticated" DDoS attack, which means there was more to it than flinging requests at them.

Has Tarantino said a damn thing about Hegseth yet?

4 days ago 0 0 0 0

Same deal as preventing fires spreading in a building etc etc, yeah

It's normal to outsource some of your DDoS protection, but some's in avoiding certain kinds of mistake in your protocol (something bsky advertises), servers etc.

4 days ago 1 0 1 0

Bsky is in "this is basic shit and we should expect large DDoS attacks" territory

Like, it's table stakes, they can't expect to hold market share without it because what are they, Mastodon? (where people are, granted, fine with the odd small instance falling over and don't expect DDoS resilience)

I think the only thing that actually saves it is if they have Laura call Doom a pendejo, tbh

In terms of films this'll be the smallest phase ever, too - I suspect the plan is "character fanservice for the outgoing + thinking they can pull off IW-level setup for the second film"

Just came across this line from a German woman complaining about a death camp near her home. It feels brutally familiar in America today:

"One is an unwilling witness to such outrages. I request that it be arranged that such inhuman deeds be discontinued, or else be done where one does not see it."

The US version of that phenomenon's exactly what I was warning about, yeah

(and Get Ready For This is still a little too archetypal for some people there)

Stuck on the bus between Nottingham and Derby

And that's partly because normally that's a [natural] language job and formal languages don't behave like natural languages (even if there are some parallels for people doing HCI-and-sociology-and-linguistics to look at in how people use them)
