Glasgow... Mugafians...
Absolute shocker of a name there from a league that's happening to Scottish cricket rather than for the benefit of it.

I'm not surprised at USA beating Nepal. The USA women's team is advancing at a rapid rate. Remember two years ago they were heavily beaten in every game of the 2024 WT20 WC qualifiers. This year they were only a single win away from qualifying for this year's WT20 WC.
The UAE have spent over 40 years investing in cricket. They have the world class facilities, grounds, coaching and access to IPL franchise money yet still haven't produced a single top international player in all that time.
Let the tiefing from other countries continue!
A potential return of Canada to CWI domestic competitions for the first time since 2019 is a positive. However, given how mired in scandal both Cricket Canada and the NCL are right now, should CWI be building closer relationships with them?
Jasprit Bumrah going wicketless at 8.20 runs an over and still being the IPL's 12th most economical bowler speaks volumes about the imbalance there is between bat and ball this year.
This is what we used to have:

Alongside similar versions in Europe, the Americas and East-Asia-Pacific.
Like the Euro Cup, cricket is slowly returning to the pre-2015 system of ICC-led regional events axed during the Big 3 takeover.
This time for Africa, instead of 20 men's teams in 3 divisions plus a women's event - we only have 6 men's teams.
Progress yes, but still a worse deal than pre-2015.
I've seen some hot takes on the potential return of the Euro Cricket Cup, but this the most odd. It's very much a 'go in there and make it all about you' approach.
Cricket Scotland's ability to bring rain to any part of the world needs to be studied.
Scotland have had five games (20%) of their WCL campaign rained off so far. Only one of those games has been at home.
Again, England and Pakistan can point to their 2022 tours of the Netherlands as 'doing their bit' for global cricket development. However, those were mandated fixtures via the ICC ODI Super League.
Even so, there is clearly one board which is not pulling it's weight in growing the game globally.
UPDATE: Last time each ICC full member played a men's bilateral game against an associate side:
Afghanistan – 2026
Ireland – 2026
Bangladesh - 2025
South Africa – 2025
West Indies – 2025
Zimbabwe – 2025
Australia – 2024
New Zealand – 2023
Sri Lanka - 2022
England – 2018
Pakistan – 2018
India – 2007
Finally, some home women's fixtures for Scotland as they host a pre-World Cup T20 tri-series against Bangladesh and the Netherlands.

Space Precinct!
Gerry Anderson's 90s British take of an American cop show in space with questionable American dubbing and, most importantly, impressive animatronics/puppetry to depict the various aliens in the show.
It also has Idris Elba's TV debut as a space pizza delivery guy in one episode.
Exactly this. However the ICC made such a hash of it, the USA parts of it lost money.
In West Indies women's most recent domestic season, 57 players got 96% of the runs and wickets.
Given CWI's current financial hardship, should they stick with 90 women's domestic contracts and 6 teams when a third of the players are barely having an impact?
I wrote some thoughts about it for CCN.
PSL 2026 Player Age Curve (% proportional change on 2025 in brackets)
47/164 <24 (+4.7%)
47/164 24-29 (-0.6%)
48/164 30-34 (-3.3%)
22/164 35+ (-0.8%)
Counter to most franchise leagues, the PSL's expansion has been positive for younger players. Will they get the playing opportunities though?

While the associate financial picture is poor, the analysis and data collection these folk use leave lots to be desired. It's mainly based on vibes/assumptions.
For example, 9 months ago these folk described CWI finances as 'Improving' when CWI lost $28M last year and expect to lose $26M this year.
A summary of the financial statements of Cricket West Indies showing a loss of $28,531,921 for fiscal year 2025.
Cricket West Indies published its audited financial statements for FY 2025 yesterday. It's a bloodbath: a $28m loss with an expected $26m loss for FY 2026 before bouncing back positive in FY 2027. All the cash reserves from the T20 World Cup are gone.
Surprised there was no analysis of the WCPL. If they were ranking the CPL it wasn't all that much extra work to cover.
The debate around ODI viability is a case of 'full member problems'. For associates, the WCL and Challenge League are the only guaranteed fixtures they get every year. T20 qualifiers are alternate years and the Olympics mean little as they will only ever play in them is if they're hosting the Games.
It's hard to see how Bangladesh, Ireland or Scotland would have performed any worse than that.
The Transformers 80's cartoon has an episode called 'Carnage in C-Minor' where the Autobots and Decepticons battle on a planet whose civilisation revolves around music. The inhabitants use harmonies for everything, including as a powerful weapon.
It's also notorious for having really bad animation.
Yes I agree, it is being treated somewhat as an afterthought at the moment. But... it is a step forward.
Also they will need to rethink 'Kingsmen' as a potential franchise name for the women's team as it doesn't particularly work.
Not to mention why the huge audience of Bangladeshis haven't tuned in either. Does anyone still remember why Bangladesh didn't play at this World Cup? Does anyone within the ICC care?
It's not like there's a new ICC broadcast deal to be negotiated this year or anything.
It also misses the elephants in the room. Like the sport's failure to build on the 2024 T20 WC in the Americas, make any inroads in Europe at this T20 WC with a record number of teams or the next men's ODI and T20 WCs are in Africa and Aus/NZ and their fans aren't engaged.
Nepal boosterism continues. Meanwhile, saying there's a 'lack of buzz' for the WC in AUS, NZ and the Caribbean is quite something. Most of their games were played during their night time, behind a paywall and two of those markets are tiny. The ICC were never going to get big numbers in those places!
Cricinfo, in the middle of this World Cup match between India and West Indies, posted a link to an article about the Indian women's soccer team in the live commentary feed.
