I’m a bit surprised by the conclusion but I’m not an anthropologist. If you’ve ever tried to latch a human baby with retrognathia to the human breast you’ll notice, it’s very difficult. The chin is important for support of the breast, stabilizing it in the infant’s soft palate during breastfeeding.

I also have a spike in pornographic profiles that follow me, I think it’s unfortunately linked to my scientific work in breastfeeding, I haven’t been actively blocking them but am very disappointed in the sheer number of these kind of requests on Bluesky
1/2 Thanks to BMJ for exposing this activity. The thing that gets me is Danone were willing to pay the midwives twice their normal pay and provide branded uniforms. The cost of those things does not come out of the CEO’s pocket or the profits for shareholders- cont.. www.bmj.com/content/388/...
"lifespan costs of reproduction became higher in mothers exposed to the famine during reproduction, amounting to a decreased life expectancy of ~0.5 years per child. Reproductive behavior did not shape the lifespans of mothers not exposed to famine or exposed post-reproduction or during development"

About a million people die every year due to antimicrobial resistance. Causes:
- Excessive and inappropriate use of antibiotics
- 70% of antibiotics are given to livestock
- No financial incentive to develop new antibiotics
