For the first time in decades, consensus broke at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The United States cast the lone “no” vote on a document aimed at improving justice systems for women and girls worldwide. Misogyny is the official policy of the US under Trump.

Also, just for the record, I'm extremely medium-sized.
Oh there's a lot of it going around. I'm sure you get a heaping helping of internet hate yourself, despite your charming disposition! For the most part, I treat it with the mockery it deserves.
Deleted. Now I'll get to test the "slowed roll" hypothesis!
A post I made about a fake "Truth Social" screed from Donald Trump: a parody of his style in which he purported to threaten the Catholic Church with exposure for some sort of scandal, while using his characteristic random capitalizations.
Hey everybody: The Donald Trump post I mocked is fake. I made fun of a fake thing without labeling it as fake. Mea maxima culpa.
I'll cherish the scoldings I received and be sure to add a warning label to all my future attempts at mockery: "HUMOR--NOT TO BE CONSUMED AS NEWS."
Thanks, whale pal! I'm pretty sure this will come to nothing. I'm more worried about Trump following through on his intermittent nuclear threats.
Huh, I would have expected screenshots to carry equal danger of further harassment as live posts. Maybe they don't because of the inconvenience factor: you can't "click through" on a screenshot to reach the original author...it just takes an extra step or two & maybe that's enough to slow the roll.
I think the person saw my post about the fake Trump meme & wanted to make his point in a forum not linked to his BlueSky account--that way, no danger of a ban for him. The email account he found for me also indicates awareness of my location that is not widely known, making his threat seem scarier.
Okay, thank you for sharing your experience. I know you've suffered some ghastly dog-piles, so I'd be eager to hear more about what you've learned from them, if you're willing to discuss.
I'll just give him a Kaafe Fassett pattern and let him drive himself insane.
The most unhinged messages came from a man living outside Denver who had multiple restraining orders against him, some permanent. That gave me pause.
Not BlueSky; the person did a little digging and found one of my lesser-known work-related email addresses (not Dartmouth). I can take this up with the organization on Monday. There are a number of people there who face credible threats from nutbars, so the organization has a very capable team.
LOL, hadn't thought of that.
I'm sure you have your share of doozies! By far the scariest messages I ever received--to my great surprise--followed a pair of articles I wrote on antivaxxers for the Atlantic during the pandemic. By comparison, this is nothing.
Makes two of us!
Doesn't that mean I have to give up on correcting the people who might not know the Trump post was fake and who may not see my follow up?
In your experience, does deleting a post attract more attacks--along the lines of "look what we made her do, let's see what else we can make her do?"
To the gentleman who messaged me with the salutation "Fat Fake News Bitch" & warned "watch your back" bc he knows where I live & my kid attends school:
I know you're very sad GamerGate is over. To fill the void, you might consider taking up a hobby with less hostility; happy to teach you to knit!
TY. Wouldn't deleting make it impossible to respond to the individuals posting under my original post? I'm trying to avoid marooning them bc I have no way of knowing if they'll see my "the Trump post is a fake" follow-up. Seems many are NOT seeing the follow-up, so I'm writing to them individually.
That's how it seemed to me, but I have been informed that reposting it with my own mockery is tantamount to poisoning the well of public information.
In case it isn't clear, the "Trump post" I'm mocking is fake.
Yes, I guess we have finally reached a point that is literally beyond parody.
Okay, thanks. Many people apparently did not notice what you noticed!
In case it's not clear, Trump didn't write that post--it was a parody of his style.
Dear Sofie, Trump didn't really write that Truth Social post. It was a parody of his style. The giveaway is that no one can blackmail or tarnish the reputation of the Catholic Church because it has already been exposed for facilitating decades of child sexual abuse & paid out billions in judgements.
No need to apologize, not your fault!
In case it isn't clear, the Trump post is fake. He didn't write that.
In case it's unclear, the Trump post is fake. He didn't really write that. No one can blackmail the Catholic Church at this point, after it's paid billions for facilitating child sex abuse for decades.
Alison: in case you weren't aware, the post I'm mocking wasn't really made by Trump. It's fake. No one can blackmail or tarnish the reputation of the Catholic Church, which has already been exposed for facilitating child sexual abuse for decades--and paying out billions for it.
I wrongly thought the fake "Truth Social" post was so exaggerated--you can't blackmail or tarnish the rep of an institution like the Catholic Church that has already paid out billions for facilitating industrial-scale child sexual abuse--that it could not be mistaken for authentic.
"telling lies on the internet from a position of authority"
...is pretty rich coming from someone who posts anonymously to avoid accountability.
In addition to reposting things I think are funny, I also repost artwork & poems I claim are "good."
Foul lies, which you can avoid via mute & block.
