FFV, FFVI and FFIX are the "best", but they are repectively: less serious/more combat focused, oddly paced/very story heavy and too perfect (like, "ruin other games by virtue of comparison if you go first" kind of perfect) respectively.

I think FFX is usually the most beginner friendly since it is very linear, has a great story, fun characters, uses the job system as solid a template but still allows for a lot costumization and it fairly covers most tropes of the franchise.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
