Seven years today since I got a personal favourite letter published in the Metro.

Tweet from furby Hancock: Waiter: so how is everything? Me: great! Waiter: (disgusted) even war?
being on bluesky
I’ve taken the liberty of perusing Closer, Heat etc to have a guess at what we’ll not be allowed to enjoy next My money is on Dancing on Ice and something to do with climate change or Better Man and even though it’s not a real monkey post-PG Tips we shouldn’t have them in films as like fake fur it
Once heard a woman having the entire plot of Moby Dick being explained in great detail at the next table. Wasn’t sure if we should offer to intervene as she looked like she had reached her absolute limit for second hand accounts of C19th literature.
The Robbie Williams stuff has got to me. What do Americans play at funerals and at the mid morning and mid afternoon melancholy slump if they don’t play Angels?
Colin Farrell's transformation into the penguin is remarkable
Merry Christmas to all! May we one day all wake up with unconditional basic income.
The cast of classic witch sitcom from the 1960s Bewitched in Christmas clothes. A white woman with blonde hair in a white sleeveless dress. A white man in a Santa hat wearing a red jacket and white shirt. A blonde girl with a white Christmas wreath wrapped around her face. There are presents at the bottom of the picture.
I missed a couple of days but here’s a Christmas pic of my phone: a Christmas Bewitched!
I’m not normally on the philosophy side of Bluesky but can I suggest Müllered wine?
It really does. But to be fair I’ve not been back for years so I have nostalgia goggles on!
I miss it now but I remember waking up one morning when I was about 7 in winter and thinking my school uniform was grey, my house was grey, the school was grey, the sky was grey…but I cheered up in summer when the sun made things sparkle.
A drawing of a 1950s style housewife on a pink background wearing a pink dress with brown hair. She’s standing next to a silver Christmas tree and metal kitchen goods. The words are “BEAUTY AND CONVENIENGE YOU'LL ENJOY FOR MANY YEARS Christmas Trees and Christmas Gifts made with Reynolds Aluminum”
I would actually *love* a massive 1950s aluminium Christmas tree.
Probably real pita bread and proper bagels and challah bread. Mostly I think culturally specific gluten breads!
Sandwiches…
ALL the gluten 😂
My current TikTok obsessions: the American accounts’ responses to the British friends who went to NYC on holiday - the friends are fab too but the way people have taken them to their hearts is lovely! And Brad Mondo videos where people colour their own hair. Will it be okay? Will it be a disaster?
A variety of early 80s celebrities sit surrounded by tinsel with Terry Wogan hosting dressed as a pantomime prince.
Today in “random Christmas photos from Emma’s phone” we have a pic from a festive episode of Blankety Blank from the early 80s.
Image of Rand from Robotech: The New Generation leaning on a cyclone mech motorbike. Caption : Claims against basic income are always ideological never logical.
"For some no amount of data will convince them about basic income."
Dr. Evelyn Forget
There’s a possibility I might forget to share this next week…my Bluesky might be the place that appreciates this most.
Ooh! Great news From Season 3 in the UK - finally - on 14th January!
A vintage card features a caveman dressed in skins drawing a mammoth and a dinotherum with the words The Compliments of The Season and a caption Study of the Mammoth and Dinotherum
I appear to have run out of pictures of Christmas crafts I will never do on my phone BUT I have found a vintage card of a mammoth and a dinotherum. Compliments of the Season from these fine fellows!
Oh no! I love K9 and Company! It’s a solid 6/10 for me.
A woman’s hand holding the Radio Times featuring its festive cover with Wallace and Gromit
It’s the best time of the year! Get those highlighters out!
I love the Digital Film Archive!
My 10yo has asked to be let loose with minimal supervision to buy gifts at the shopping centre and I’m a bit apprehensive! I’ll get him to stick with his brother and do it after school tomorrow to avoid crowds. But it’s so busy sometimes. I can’t believe I was ever foolish enough to go to Oxford St!
I hate it so much when my children ask me stuff like that.
I finally got some Christmas shopping done this morning. And all I can say as a disabled person is I am so thankful for online retailers. I’ll be getting my husband to take me to my local games shop for some stocking fillers but I’d have been lost otherwise. And shoutout to lovely Vinted sellers!
A Star Wars action figure or a soft toy at the top of our stocking.
Drawings of various crafts made of seeds to hang outside
I really do have a lot of instructions for Christmas crafts from children’s books I’m unlikely to ever do stored on my phone. This is from The Berenstain Bears Old Fashioned Christmas
