The phrasing suggests a predetermined direction. A better description would be that those dogs that happened to be able to produce amylase were better adapted than others if they found themselves living with humans. This phrasing doesn’t play into the hands of intelligent design creationists.

Yes, this is a super cool example of directional selection. But, "dogs evolved to eat your leftovers" is teleological reasoning. It is like saying birds evolved wings to fly. It's a simple story of AMY2B gene copies happening in the right individuals (dogs) at the right time (living with humans).

This is a great example of how Fox manipulates it's viewers. Because they trust only Fox, the Fox audience is completely vulnerable to manipulation by Fox. How could they know that what they're seeing with their own eyes isn't real? They couldn't. They're seeing it happen, it's right there!
