When you’re about to open a show, you have a week of dedicated rehearsal for the technical elements, also known as Tech Week.

…what
Me in a slim fit double breasted pinstriped blue suit and cute sunglasses and a burgundy tie, preening like an absolute bitch.
babe…it’s tech week
I’m sorry man ending this bizarre ramble with his name in all caps is genuinely funny
BTTF is straight up one of the most meticulously engineered screenplays of all time. No question. But yeah, WITNESS just draws you in and changes your rhythm and makes you care. And when the thriller elements resurface it’s genuinely jolting. Perfect.
Holy cow that’s wild. And Morrissey took beer money!
Kinda devastating in light of the fact that Godunov basically drank himself to death.
Never a bad time, I should think.
He’s playing something so tricky here: a decent man trying to let go of a resentment before it darkens his soul. That takes a delicate touch. Godunov had it.
In a less interesting film he’d be the guy who tips off the police that Book is in the village.
John Book is walking sex.
Godunov in particular is very effective here. Made me wish we’d seen so much more from him.
Absolutely true. What a film is about is insignificant compared to how it is about it.
I’m watching the opening sequences and thinking to myself “this would be called arthouse now”
The thing about WITNESS is that every part of it works. The thriller stuff? Tense! The drama of cultural collision? Deep! The romance of two people who can never share a world? Hot!!!
WITNESS: A miracle movie. Takes a truly hack premise (hard boiled cop Harrison Ford must hide out among…the AMISH?!) and commits to telling it in the most human, beautiful way possible. The pace is hypnotic, the imagery enveloping, the performances unimprovable. Peter Weir remains the quiet GOAT.
Holding off on reading til I watch this one, but Ryoo is a master. His CITY OF VIOLENCE (ass-kicking thriller) and CRYING FIST (boxing melodrama) are all-timers to me. Whenever he has a new one, I’m there.
Never clicked a purchase link faster. Brianna is amazing and this is an incredible piece of work.
When I was younger I was such a Siskel and Ebert fanatic that I was really unfair to Roeper, who I saw as an unworthy usurper. Found him corny as hell. Now that I am middle-aged I’m positively fond of the old goof. Love when one of his reviews pops up and he fires off some Shalit-esque pun.
Oh man that must have been fucking wild.
Uuuuuhhh Princess Daisy is a CO-LEAD I'll have you know.
I wanna see James Whale’s THE INVISIBLE MAN in 1933 and watch everyone lose their fucking shit when he takes off the bandages.
The epitome of We Didn’t Know How Good We Had It Cinema.
Like obviously this is gonna be another in a long chain of dumbass bungles by this rum-breathed clown, but it’s actually really bad that our government is run by these people! It sucks man!
I’ve been a FGF truther since day one. Some of us know art when we see it.
Tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of me seeing FREDDY GOT FINGERED in an actively hostile theater and laughing til I felt like I was going to pass out.
The Democrats sense that they're gonna cruise to midterm victory by doing nothing and offering nothing and are using it as a freebie to punch left to make sure the voters don't get any ideas.
Democrats will never talk half as much shit about Republicans as they do about leftists.
Dude I get to play the real stuff with you.
Exquisite read.
Drives me out of my fucking mind.
Outlaw Vern (one of my favorite critics) reviewed it as a Bruce movie and wrote some very funny stuff that makes you realize yeah there’s actually plenty of Bruce DNA there.
