Seriously, why aren't we putting messages like these everywhere? I'd happily chip in some pro-NSF and pro-NIH billboards? 🧪

BREAKING: Hundreds of Jews and allies have taken over Trump Tower chanting “We want justice, you say how. Bring Mahmoud home now!” and “Fight Nazis, not students.”
The civil disobedience is spawned by the ICE arrest of Palestinian student Mahmoud Khalil.

Join Greg and his guests to learn all about the perilous history of Arctic exploration.
Final plug for my foray into #Arctic Exploration with You're Dead to Me - and also an endorsement: if the YDTM crew ever contact you to take part, say yes! I'm open about my mixed experience with "the media" & can say @gregjenner.bsky.social & team are the BEST I've ever worked with 🗃️

Weather and climate data shown on this website and countless others are at risk.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is the U.S. agency responsible for global weather forecasting, hurricane prediction, ocean observation, and many other services vital to public safety. Its satellites, supercomputers, and research teams provide essential data that help us understand our planet and protect lives.
On February 27, the new U.S. administration initiated mass firings at NOAA. These actions are unethical and deeply disruptive to the talented scientists and engineers who dedicate themselves to the public good. The firings, along with expected budget cuts, have serious implications for the availability and quality of weather forecasts produced by the United States. They must be reversed immediately.
Much of the data on this website is downloaded directly from NOAA's servers. In this environment of uncertainty, access could be disrupted at any time. While I'll strive to keep all features on this website functional and switch to alternative data sources if necessary, some datasets have no substitute if they go offline.
If this concerns you, speak up. Share on social media. And if you're in the U.S., contact your representatives.
- Cameron
All websites that depend on NOAA data should display something like this.

i’m reading Steve Harvey’s dating advice book and there’s a bit where he has a meltdown whenever his wife does anything adventurous, and he frames it as his masculine drive to protect her

1/6 Fish can recognize you when you dive
This has been tested on fish in the wild off the coast of Corsica. One person fed them regularly while another did not. The fish learned to distinguish them and progressively improved.

It brings me great joy to love something that everyone hates, and vice versa. There is a malevolence so ancient and terrible in me.

My mother is an English teacher and she once assigned her students to write poems using unhinged spam email subject lines as the first line or title. Anyway.

"DOGE does not have power over established government agencies, and Musk has no role in government. It does not matter that he is an ally of the President. Musk is a private citizen taking control of established government offices. That is not efficiency; that is a coup."

they are stealing data from the american people and depriving us of the transparency that we are entitled to by law. none of this is legal and not a single federal employee has any reason to comply.

Regardless of how you voted, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE voted for Elon to do this shit.
Demand action from your reps.
Text or chat PYFGHI to @Resist.bot and send it to your reps.
You don't have to talk to anyone and sending by email is free. You can do this from your blanket burrito in 2 minutes or less.

On the Nomination PN11-3: Douglas Burgum, of North Dakota, to … -- Senate Vote #26 -- Jan 30, 2025
Senate Vote #26 in 2025, in the United States Congress.
26 Democratic US senators cooperated with the Trump Administration again today.
This is what passes for an opposition party in this age of rising fascism.

Earthquake warning system among projects threatened by NSF funding freeze
Small nonprofit that helps manage network could soon run out of money
One impact of the NSF freeze: They fund the small nonprofit, EarthScope, that manages seismic and GPS stations used worldwide to detect and warn of earthquakes and navigate autonomous vehicles.
EarthScope can maybe make payroll this week. A prolonged freeze could see stations fail.

I'm obviously worried about the evil things Trump and Elon have said they will do, but the crash reminds me to be worried of what I think of "death by jank." these people are far from being as smart as they think they are and their incompetence is going to kill people
