Female Prisoner 701: Scorpion opens in #Japan in 1972. Today, this Meiko Kaji film is considered a cult classic, but back then it was pulling in mainstream audiences.

This 83-year-old priest has just been arrested for holding a sign which read:
“I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.”
According to Starmer’s new law, this puts her in the same category as an ISIS or Al-Qaeda terrorist, with a prison sentence of up to 14 years.
Truly what an ensemble cast with so many superb performances! haha, I never noticed Sandra Ng...I'll keep a look out upon next viewing, and she should be even easier to spot in the 4K restoration!
It seems you went on several pilgrimages to pay your respects to this movie - this is dedication!! I was so happy to finally get to see it on the big screen in Hong Kong in 2018 - a true joy to see there. Alongside the trio of actresses I also really enjoyed Wu Ma's comical performance
The time has finally come for one of the greatest films ever to be released on 4K! A truly wild and exhilarating mix of tones, genres and blistering action sequences. Still rmb hunting for this at Kims Video on a trip to New York as it was impossible to find in the UK in the early 2000s.
My latest in the Guardian where I argue that @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social position on Palestine was not a liability, but that the Palestine movement and its organizers are why he won. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
One of Chor Yuen's pre-Gu Long wuxia action movies with English subs. In his book Planet Hong Kong, David Bordwell analysed a sequence from this film to showcase how some of John Woo's action style was anticipated by the "floating fights of Chor Yuen"

“Once the level of valuable information reported [by CCTV] was ‘reset to zero,’ naturally no one was willing to pay anymore to appear alongside official propaganda. Meanwhile, the financial support provided by the government was insufficient to maintain the operation of such a massive team.”
Hollywood studio executives are sweating over Warner Bros.’ unusual rights agreement with Ryan Coogler for ‘Sinners,’ with some saying it ‘could end the studio system.’

Advertising for "Papa" (Hong Kong, 2024) listing the cinemas in the UK and Ireland it will be screening in -- and not just in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Dublin but also the likes of Ashton-Under-Lyne, Camberley, Gateshead, Reading, Sittingbourne, Stockpot and Walsall!
"Papa" will be screening from February 28th in a good number of cinemas in the UK and Ireland! It's not an easy watch but it's a really good film. Don't just take my word for it; it's been nominated for 11 Hong Kong Film Awards and is @poohsticks.bsky.social's favourite Hong Kong film of 2024!

Staggering yet unsurprising greed from the poisonous, evil cunts at Criterion Capital. It’s not enough to own 95% of Leicester Square and do nothing of value with it, they have to take the one part that everyone likes and turn that into one more soulless cash funnel for billionaire owner Asif Aziz
