Is someone going to tell him that the flu killed more US troops in WWI than any battle did (and that war had chemical weapons so horrific that they were banned afterwards)?

Beautiful game even to watch, let alone play.

I got to play this while volunteering in the digital area at the Maryland Film Fest back in the fall; it's a really beautifully done game.

Relooted heist video game:

Protagonist Nomali and a crew of ordinary citizens reclaim 70 real-life African artifacts taken during the colonial era.

Very cool.

"Oh, so they shouldn't do anything if they win? They shouldn't try to pass legislation? They shouldn't try to work with Republicans to find compromise?"

They should govern exactly how Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell did when Obama was president after the 2014 midterms.

"Look, we gotta elect Democrats to implement some Republican policy," basically.

Laughing at the idea that the "first order of business if Dems win House/Senate" should be to re-introduce the right-wing immigration bill Biden/Harris tried to run on in 2024 to take the immigration issue off the table by making a ton of concessions to the anti-immigration right.

Republicans, for their part, have cast the push for a new map as a Democratic power grab.

“Richmond liberals want to eliminate competitive elections in Virginia,” says an ad from Virginians for Fair Maps, the main Republican-aligned outside group in Virginia.

A more correct way to write this is: "Republicans, who famously love gerrymandering in every other case, are flooding Democratic and Black voters' phones and mailboxes with ratfucking mailers and texts falsely claiming that Obama, Spanberger, and the DNC are against the ballot measure."

Democrats Once Loathed Gerrymandering. Now They’re Pushing for It.

The words "North Carolina," and "Missouri" do not appear in this piece of shit article.

Neither does the word "decade."

"Florida" and "Texas" appear in subordinate clauses, after words like "After Virginia ..." and "Gov. Gavin Newsom of California framed ..."

Aw, beautiful Baltimore scene and a beautiful Baltimore writer story in the alt text. (Also Malcolm Gladwell (for whom I decidedly do not have a soft spot lol) dancing in a gold jumpsuit).

Text screenshot: The public defenders proposed legislation earlier this year — it was made moot by the moratorium — that would have closely regulated the use of AI report writing technology. Among other things, it would have required police to clearly label AI generated reports and required officers responsible for the reports to review, sign and attest to the accuracy of every page.

The proposed legislation also would have required police agencies to retain all drafts of AI generated reports, a procedure that would allow examiners to track the correction of computer-generated errors.

The cynic in me wonders if the proposed legislation about use of AI in police reports (which had smart, sharp guardrails - see below) is what led to the "oh no let's have a moratorium so those rules won't pass yet" move. We'll see what rules for AI use in cop reports Connecticut eventually passes.

“Their main goal is not to scare us away. They're shooting to kill”

Palestinian villager, Akram Abu Ali, who lives in the occupied West Bank witnessed Israeli settlers shoot and kill a boy who was trying to save his friend from being beaten.

Praising JK Rowling when asked a question on trans rights is akin to praising Anita Bryant when asked a question gay rights. No money to Stonewall. No Stonewall at Pride. They are already experiencing a funding crisis, and this chairwoman appointment should be their last. Traitors.

Side note: your @fullstorybaltimore.tours purchases help fund mildly bonkers shit, like me standing up in a room full of fancy Johns Hopkins U people and publicly asking them what they're gonna do about the Confederate monument on their campus

This is such a key point. Netanyahu's survival depends utterly on holding the worst messianic, expansionist and racist Israeli politicians in his fragile coalition, which means always being increasingly brutal and warlike.

It's worth emphasizing that Israel's conduct in the Gaza War was overwhelmingly driven by Bibi's specific political need to ally with the absolute worst human beings in Israel (Ben-Gvir, Smotrich, and their voters).

He did stuff that made even a good chunk of Israeli conservatives uncomfortable.

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

Have been wondering when candidates would start talking about this. One of the biggest corruption scandals is U.S. history playing out in real time.

I keep saying, someone is eventually going to realize that running on a constitutional right to control your data is going to be a HUGE winner.
