I guess I've really gotten somewhere with this writing thing when I find that I need to cite one of my own previous books in the bibliography to the one I'm currently writing. The Maplehurst Murder is starting to take shape!

Just published a piece over at my PATREON page that I developed while teaching writing classes at the library in Cardington. I wrote a tribute to the two women responsible for my career as a classical music critic: My elementary music teacher, and my mother. They gave me the keys to the kingdom.

Digging through my memories--and photos--of Malabar Farm for my History Knox column this weekend, where I discovered a reason for talking about black walnuts. Here's a picture of Lady exploring at Malabar, which she much preferred to harvesting walnuts.

That means the world to me, to hear that my words can sometimes linger in people's minds. You know, since I've been working nights at the lodge, I have more than once had the thought while driving home on evocative mornings, "I hope Irv is out getting this."
