Spoke to someone who was being held up selling their house because of their buyer's buyer's buyer. Have we considered that there's a housing market problem because of just one person way down the chain who's being difficult?

Like many behavioural(?) therapies, it seems to be built around a model of the brain where you can force the central executive to engage in Rational Thinking, which will surely banish anxiety (which is irrational). I might be wrong but this is my impression.

I'm guessing here that the purpose is to "ground" you and to stop you spiralling (a lot of this sort of therapy is built around "grounding" which is legitimate albeit really just mental firefighting).

But this is yet another example of CBT that doesn't really work or even make much sense because it gives implicit credit to the anxious thoughts and accepts them as legitimate.

During CBT therapy I was encouraged to ask the question of my anxious thoughts "ok and then what?"
So to use an absurd example, if I was worried that my leg was going to fall off, I'd go "ok and then what?" and the answer would be "well I'd get a prosthetic and it'd be annoying but I'd be alright."

Well hopefully I'll be seeing my great great grandfather's HO 144 naturalisation files on Friday, at TNA, which should be interesting. No idea what I'll find.

I can't actually remember the name, but it could have been at the University of Nottingham. In which case, they have a very disjointed database you can look through, but it's not as good as the original.

There used to be an incredible website which had seemingly every placename in England. You could search for a settlement and it'd have the names of roads, lanes, fields, houses, and so on, each with an explanation of their historical evolution and the meaning of the name. And it's just... gone.

From what I've seen they tend to settle on "use the expensive remedy of the month" or "go to a dermatologist"

You need to use MOOF cream. MOOF. Solved everything and it's only £50 for a month's supply. Oh you use that? Well clearly your technique is off. Trust me you don't get a clean shave like mine without AT LEAST 10 years practice. Warmup for 30 minutes, and make sure to go with or against the grain eve

Either that or it descends into recommending increasingly expensive and obscure equipment and techniques

Every discussion forum for male shaving seems to inevitably recommend that you "use a traditional safety razor" for any problem, which makes you question the point of the last 100 years of innovation in male shaving

Having had a recent bout of anxiety I decided to reassess meditation and began reading /r/meditation's wiki and posts.
One post I came across was someone saying that they had been doing it for years to no avail.
The top comment was, and I am not joking,
"Have you tried changing your personality?"

I'm really through with being anxious about everything. I'm not even sad anymore I'm just kind of pissed off that I have to live like this.

People who have totally adopted the mindset of "not caring what other people think" are either the kindest, sincerest, and most memorable person you'll meet or, more likely, the second coming of Adolf Hitler
