1) How did narratives of prehistory develop in Portugal?
2) How do prehistorians frame and present the political significance of their work, contributing to or altering the limits and possibilities of the conditions of different political regimes and socio-cultural contexts?
The 50 Layers project explores the different layers of prehistoric archaeology before and after the 25th April 1974 in Portugal, questioning the political dimension of ideas, concepts and methodologies that frame archaeological practice. It is structured around three questions:
