Have been awol from social media for a long while but had to log on to celebrate the downfall of Walliams! Good riddance!

For anyone who isn’t aware, Walliams’ book sales propped HC UK up for years. While his behaviour was a poorly kept secret. Money > staff safety. Some serious questions should be asked of them IMHO.

DK ventures into children’s fiction with new imprint DK flip DK has launched its first children’s fiction imprint, DK flip, “dedicated to publishing flippin’ marvellous fiction”, having previously only published children’s non-fiction.

Publishing YA books under an imprint named 'flip' is certainly a choice...Not to mention the 'flippin' marvelous books' tagline...

Seconded - I ended up having to watch a 20 minute long recap video. Promptly realised I remembered nothing..

I have a question for publishing people...Has having 'a novel' on the cover always been a thing? I feel like it didn't used to be, and why is it now on basically every single one?

As a children's writer this is a v interesting read. I'd love more longform discussion of children's books - this piece feels like it needs a follow up about contemp children's books now if anyone wants to commission one! #KidLitUK

Harry Potter publisher Bloomsbury strikes supply agreement with Amazon Harry Potter publisher Bloomsbury Publishing said on Friday it has reached a new long-term supply agreement with Amazon .

This Bloomsbury kerfuffle is yet another reminder of Amazon's clout... Even if the average book buyer doesn't really gain much these days from shopping there since you would only save a few quid most of the time.

I'm not sure if all the various publishing recruitment accounts have migrated over here yet (have they?) but in the meantime... Come work alongside little old me!

'the word cunt' is the title of the 13-line poem. Here are the last few lines: ...how else
would you describe the sea?
     a woman's heart i said. a cauldron
of cold fish tears, a crone in love with the moon, the sloshing
   fluid of god's inner ear.

This is a poem about the sea, and it's one of my favourites from Scottish poet Ali Whitelock, who lives in Australia.

From her collection The Lactic Acid in the Calves of Your Despair (2020).

It's just people compiling lists of people you should follow! There's been a lot of bookish ones created over the last week or two. Just saw this one for example..

Anyway, for that $5000 are you just getting their AI software help? Are they printing books, do they have sales reps? Is it just available on Amazon? Do they do any marketing?

This quote in particular gave me a chuckle..

New publisher Spines aims to 'disrupt' industry by using AI to publish 8,000 books in 2025 alone A new publisher has claimed it aims to “disrupt” the books industry by publishing 8,000 books in 2025 alone using artificial intelligence.

Why do people claiming they want to 'disrupt the industry' always look exactly like this?

Please, if you are able, support Indy publishers.

As the big 5 buy up all the book shelves with their astronomic discounting.

It would be grand if you could look at.
