Same! It’s a constant struggle.
Being your own cheerleader is so hard. I often feel like giving up and I’m forever fighting the niggling voices telling me my books are uninteresting. So! Let’s share positive book things. Something you know you do well.
I’ll start:
I’m pretty good at worldbuilding and writing relationships.
Go!
Draft2Digital (D2D), a distributor of indie books to various sales platforms, has abruptly changed their fee structure. Signing on, I'd agreed to pay them a commission, or percentage of my sales through their distributors. 1/
"The Last Eye of Time" by Guy W. Nettleton mixes fantasy and science fiction in an interesting way. The world building is fascinating. I loved when technology I knew was mentioned, but the characters were left clueless. An intriguing and enjoyable read.

Digital painting of an opening pink magnolia bloom next to an unopened bud contrasted against a clear blue sky. The bloom has large petals which are touched by shadow here and there bringing out a deeper pink color.
An ethereal pink magnolia blossom courtesy of a lovely photo from @taterdash.bsky.social for today's #DrawAFlowerADay. The original photo had more blooms in the background but I liked the contrast of focusing in on one branch against this pure blue sky.
Book promo post. A textured orange-hued background with a book cover overlaid it. The book cover is for Starship Librarians and features a humanoid librarian in a retro-coloured spacesuit of oranges, creams, and teal, shelves books. They are framed by a window looking out onto space. Behind them is a bookcart with thrusters instead of wheels. Additional text says Now Available.
Happy National Library Workers Day!

Congrats to the winner of the third SF Indie Novella Championship! 🥳
This includes Ai checkers, to my mind. Has the @societyofauthors.bsky.social issued a similar statement?
"Editors [etc.] should not upload any manuscript to or otherwise prompt consumer-facing chatbots with any author’s works without first getting the author’s written permission"
I'm not allowed to talk about it directly until the official announcement in July, but GNoH has won the category we were nominated in for that national award
That was very close indeed. Congratulations to @jessicaamcminn.bsky.social for taking the top spot! :D
At last!
This is my final #SFINCS3 review, this time for Tim Pratt's sci-fi novella, The Nome and the Shroud King. This was a fun, smooth read with an engrossing plot.

"Rider in the Widowlands" by Coy Hall is beautifully written (as you would expect from this author), deeply imaginative, and has a wonderful horse (I love Hall's animal characters).
There is so much in this short story. A satisfying, and inspiring, read.
